Yikes! Clinton by 33!?!?

Bubba Won It Twice
by Urquhart

Prior to Dubya, it was a Blue state. No Democrat has been elected without West Virginia since 1916. Hillary leads McCain by double digits there. McCain leads Obama by double digits.

Man, do I love politics.

Whatever happened to that bellwether race in Mississippi? That got lost in the tsunami.

So she gets 19 delegates, and he gets
by Speaker Nancy

9. Doesn't help her a damned bit.

She has lost. A loyal party member would concede to the presumptive nominee.

Because Democrats Are Morons
by Urquhart

She has not lost, in that he hasn't won. Because the Dems have designed an absurd nomination process to specifically ensure that there is never a nominee.

How does the Nominee Presumptive lose by over thirty points, after the contest is over? Ridiculous. These are warning signs. Canaries in the mineshaft.

Mainly just chiming in because this is such a remarkable event, and I can't call anyone at this time of night and be assured of a warm reception.

But, I mean, damn. Media types seem to be brushing this off. But isn't it rather huge?

West Virginia is one of those KKK states...
by Speaker Nancy

She pandered to a bunch of racists with her "hardworking white people" speech, and they ate it up.

Looking at the Pair of Them
by Urquhart

Sure, you've got a weeble-shaped white woman against a lanky negro. I don't think she needed to pander, especially. It was fairly obvious to anyone with one of them new-fangled televisions, Eb.

But this clearly signals that Obama doesn't have a chance of winning West Virginia in the Fall. As all Democrats have done prior to the effete Al Gore and the eleitist John Kerry.

Disagree.

To you, Obama's the presumptive nominee (evidently not yet to Hil -- her choice).

But he hasn't yet reached the magic number.

Until one of them does (and I increasingly presume it will eventually be him, despite this >2:1 Clinton blowout), and as close as the count remains, it's simply not reasonable to demand Clinton concede. Time enough for that once either 1) Obama manages to put it away before the primaries end (I believe his campaign predicts he will in Oregon), or 2) all Dems have voted, at which point there's no reason for further delay in superdels making up their minds (again, presumably putting Obama over the top).

Thus fulfilling your desire.

Leaving one to wonder why you and fellow Obamites are so intent on truncating the process, disenfranchising Dem voters in remaining primaries (like me; am I wrong that that also includes you?), in the process tossing out the window the quite significant advantages (I've spelled them out before if you've been paying attention, so won't repeat here) of letting us all vote meaningfully since the race remains technically undecided.

One would almost think you lack faith in your candidate.

Hate to say it, but it kinda reminds me of the GOPers determination to prevent all the votes from being counted in FL 2000 once a "total" that put them nominally ahead had been reported.

As long as it remains technically (i.e., mathematically) undecided, let the voters vote, say I. I increasingly see substantial Dem advantage and no significant disadvantage in doing precisely that.

Those who've drunk deeply of 16 years of the VRWC's media-enabled Clinton=Satan (THEY SHARE A COMMON FINAL SYLLABLE!!!) kool-aid will, of course, see it differently.

But I'll maintain my choice to continue my residence within the Reality-Based Community.

Whoa. Or 40???

Talk about exceeding expectations in the Expectations Game!

Obama cannot win any state that does not have a huge black population, and some white wine sipping hippies.

btw: what wine goes best with fried chicken?

Ah yes, I have a bottle in front of me (as opposed to a frontal lobotomy). The label says May....a very good month.

So, wow.

CNN is saying Clinton 299,714 votes - 67%, Obama 88, 212 - 26%. 16 delegates to 7, respectively.

Now, granted, he didn't bother to campaign in WV... but this is not a shiny day for him what-so-ever.

About that not bothering to campaign - do you believe this could hurt him in the long run? I''m thinking it really looks bad that he ignored an entire state... it surely doesn't help any.

On the other hand, Delaware was okay for B.O., though I don't recall seeing much about either of them campaigning there. Obama took 53%, for 9 delegates, while Clinton got 43%, resulting in 6 delegates.

I'm looking forward to June, when this is finally over. Feels like it's been going on a long, long time.

Had Obama campaigned in WV, he would most likely have gotten a smaller percentage of the vote.

Wondering how those hippies taste to the white wine
