Flies in the Urinals at Schipol
by cmarschall

I was travelling through Schipol quite regularly about a year and half ago, and those flies really captured my imagination. For the first 30 seconds or so, I thought it might be real. Then I looked at the other urinals, all with flies, and I thought it was quirky European (no pun intended) marketing. Now it all makes sense - A social Experiment! It worked, though - I drowned alot of flies. As time goes by, I wonder if there will be diminishing returns as the novelty wears off.

At a pub in Zurich I encountered a urinal with an ad for a local urologist's office. It consisted of a target, rather high up on the back wall of the unit, and a challenge to hit it. Presumably those who could not suffered from poor prostate health.

Of course I took aim and hit the target, whereupon its musical chip played "Ole, ole ole ole." I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself.

Outstanding!

We in the US take our trips to the restroom way too seriously. God help the man who meets eyes with, let alone speaks to another in a public bathroom.

The toilets at one of my favourite pubs from my time in London used to play Monty Python and Blackadder sketches. I can't remember how may times I came out of there laughing my arse off.

Virgin Atlantic tried to import some unique British/European humor to the men's room at their JFK lounge several years ago, with disastrous results. Of course, the manufacturers got a huge boost in orders, to Virgin's chagrin.

Omg, I've always sort of wanted to install a urinal at home, and now I MUST HAVE ones of those lips ones.

I guess I am not a manly man. If I thought a fly was sitting in the urinal I would pee around him.

Plus, I always thought ice cubes were enough of a motivation to pee in the urinal...I like melting them with my firepee!
