It's actually very sad...
by SoreLoser

I was watching the PBS program First Flower tonight and was struck by how very sad it was that Creationists were forced to ignore the interrelatedness of the many species of plant species.

Scientists have done DNA analysis of many plant species and grouped them into closely related kin groups but, as Creationists (and many IDers) can't believe in the evolutionary relationship between different species, they can't believe in the growth, diversification and spread of flowering plants across the world.

Sad when you come to think about it. Willful ignorance is such a waste!

How long before DNA test goes the way of finger prints? For many years we were told again and again how finger prints were irrefutable proof only to find out that it was not so irrefutable after all. The truth of the matter was hidden from the public. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket.

Science is to be trusted, scientist are to be questioned. They have fooled us before and there is no reason to believe that they will not attempt to fool us again.

As opposed to organized religions, which have never attempted to deceive, dissemble, obfuscate or commit mass murder in their pursuit of wealth, power and control over the lives of humanity. The sheer presumption of those scientists—spending their lives actually studying the infinite mysteries of life, the universe and everything rather than relying on dusty tomes of folklore and myth for their answers—is simply appalling. They should all be burned at the stake like Giordano Bruno for their unnatural interest in flowers and stars and stuff! ;-)

Nanotech, this is a batty, lunatic, unhinged, paranoid view of scientists.

A Christian still sins, does he not? A scientist gets it wrong sometimes, too. Science is never static. How many times must we remind you of this? Nobody is trying to "fool" anybody. We're all just trying to arrive at the truth, which appears to be counterintuitive for folks like you. I mean, since scientists are just out to pull one over on us, why bother? God did it!

And you still don't see how absolutely hypocritical that statement is coming from you Nano?

So what does Nano expect?

"Some day soon", we'll uncover massive evidence that all life (the Earth itself in fact) just "popped" into existance one day (or 6 days actually)?!?!?!?

DNA test for what, exactly?
by JGC

DNA testing for forensic purposes? What exactly do you mean by 'go the way of fingerprints'--you're aware that fingerprints remain the primary unique identifier used by the world's law enforcemnet agencies, aren't you?

If DNA does as you suggest 'go the way of fingerprints "--continues to be in widespread use except in instances where a more recently developed technique provides significantmaterial advantages (i.e., is cheaper, quicker, more robust or significantly more accurate)--I'd guess we're talking something on the order of 50 years or so.

"They have fooled us before and there is no reason to believe that they will not attempt to fool us again."

>>It's false (and intellectually dishonest) to characterize offering comprehensive and predictive explanatory models dervied from all evidence available at this time as 'attempting to fool' anytone, even though new evidence discovered at some future date may make it necessary to revise those models.

So just how did the earth come into existance? If from the "Big Bang" what caused the "Big Bang"?

Like I said, Nano, willful ignorance is such a waste.

What caused your "creator" Nano? Once again you expect a much higher standard of proof from others than you are willing to give yourself.

What caused the big bang?

A Martian butterfly flapped it's wings on the planet Neptune? An alien spacecraft backfired?

A science experment that went horribly wrong?

A cosmic gas had interracial relations with a shooting star?

I'm open to any suggestion.

So you can't answer the question. That's what I thought.

QFT.

Nano's basket is the bible.

So you can't answer the question either. Not surprised.
