How Will This Increase Creativity?
by Slawrence5

The real issue is that this oligopoly has reduced creativity in the music business (and in films too) over the past 40 years. Giving them a guaranteed stream of money, without having to earn it, will be the final straw.

This is the real problem with declining revenues. You see it all the time in the film industry. No creativity - all corporate group think. They then use their financial muscle to advertise heavily and ensure a "success".

Its much cheaper - and therefore more profitable - to invest in creative individuals but the big corporations can't operate this way. They bought up all the independants and converted them to their coprorate culture and mindset.

Time for an "Enron" solution to this.
