Hillary as VP?
by Thevail

So would Hillary supporters be happy if Hillary got to be VP on Obama's ticket?
Re: Hillary as VP?

That would be step #1.

I would also like Slate to run a cover story regarding sexism in America and how it reared its ugly head yet again when Clinton ran for the nomination.

Just like New York Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and Salon.com.

It needs to be acknowledged and it needs to be addressed.

I agree. Sexism, and racism. All the white women voted for Hillary it seems, black men & women for Obama, and latinos for Villaraigosa.

How do you think white male adults should be punished for this?

blueskies,

What a completely irrelevant point!

Bravo.

Can you post that ridiculous, rambling thing about procreation and the Feminine Mystique again?

I don't quite think that would work, Thevail.

Hillary apparently has more or less announced, in her comments to USAToday, that she's a candidate for "white people."

She probably doesn't like to work closely with Ni**ers.

"...Just like New York Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and Salon.com."

I'm not sure if this is Hillary's bizarre math at work or an extreme feminist's bizarre math or some of both.

3 out of 4 magazine/websites say what you want said, 1 does not, and that's not good enough for you...

I think the window of opportunity for that was closed when she spoke on record as being the candidate for hard-working, white Americans.

Yep...she's through. Not a chance in hell as VP after saying that. It's unfortunate that when people look back on her run it will be inextricably tinged with this undercurrent of racism. She could and should have done otherwise. I think it will keep her from ever running again. I wonder how her next senate race will play out if she goes that way, if this will come back to haunt her. NY not being known for its hard working, blue collar white folk.

Frankly I think it's slightly ironic that Hillary supports talk about the cult of Obama while supporting a candidate who has obviously so divorced herself from reality to think both that that comment would be OK and that it might still help her win. Frankly I'm also completely disgusted by this.

StevieN,

You have no idea what you're talking about. What a surprise. Do you know anything about the Clintons? Or were you in England during the Clinton administration?
Re: Hillary as VP?
by mercadia
acro101,

It was an incendiary comment, but it is also very true summation of the facts of the primary election.

She hasn't divorced herself from reality--she's reflecting reality (unfortunately, the reality isn't pretty).

It's not going to come back to haunt her. Trust me, it really won't.

artandsoul,

But she HAS been the candidate for hard-working, white americans. Saying "hard-working" was probably just a political nod to blue-collar workers and it was not a good idea to phrase it that way, but every political commentator with a brain (including those who work for Slate), understand that what she said was true, despite its potentially incendiary nature. It was a political mistake to phrase it that way, but it doesn't make the statement less true, and Obama needs to work on his appeal to the demographics that he needs, but is not getting, to win the general election.

Pmbster,

Wow, amazing that there is *no math* involved. But nice way to try to make a dig at me.

I want Slate to write a piece.
Re: Hillary as VP?

Yeah, I think, unfortunately it is true...so was the bitter thing..you just need to be careful how you phrase things in politics.

It's also a statement of fact to say that Nazi's hate jews, but no one thinks it's a good idea to use that as an electoral rallying cry.
