My entry was serious, but all Beam was interested in was over-the-top slapstick comedy. So, for the record, here is what I wrote.

It is rumored that there is an "October Surprise" awaiting Obama. My guess that the Clinton campaign will leak it as a "June surprise". It has to involve Obama's father or stepfather. My guess: I don't believe Obama was a Christian until joining Wright's church. My guess is that he was in some "Young Muslim" group while in Indonesia, that this group was anti-American, and that he still has ties with people who were also in the group and who, as adults, harbor anti-American sentiments and may hold important positions. Obama is still friends with these people (or person), even though he doesn't buy into their views. This fits Obama's trait of associating with people who have toxic views and of wanting to have a dialogue with everyone, including one's enemies. The association I postulate above will make Ayers and Dohrn look like Ozzie and Harriet. There may also be a damaging picture or two, and not just of him wearing native dress. Greg Bachelis

Apart from your specious inference that Obama has a "trait of associating with people who have toxic views" is there any evidence whatsoever?

And if not, how does it qualify as serious?

Shouldn't a retired math professor be familiar with the elementary principles of logic? Isn't logic the foundation of mathematics?

As Bertrand Russell pointed out, from false premises any conclusion can be drawn. See the truth table for logical implication.

You are presuming propositions whose logical values are completely unknown. You use words like "rumor", "guess" and "postulate". No, your entry was not serious. And it's not April Fools Day either.

Those other quick-repliers (aka OB supporters) are just annoyed that you might actually be on to something and if so, then all the hootin' and hollerin' for their candidate will be for naught and they will be looking stupid--and you know we can't stand looking stupid. This is a political contest, and anything can happen ... and typically does.

Ri-ight, nymob. So, if he's "on to something", why wait until June to release the information? Something as devastating as he's describing would sink the Obama campaign now and let Clinton begin focusing on the general election.

Looks like nymob and mathpol are aspiring political advisors. Hint: if you have nasty damaging material about your opponent, it's probably best to use it while you still have a chance to win.

Well, professor, I certainly would not be surprised by any kind of October surprise being launched against Obama.

I believe, however, this surprise would have already been launched by Hillary herself, or the Republicans. Remember, the Republicans want to go against Hillary. They know she is far easier to beat than Obama. If they had something to mortally wound Obama's candidacy, they would have already launched it.

Hillary would have also launched that attack. There is nothing she wouldn't do to try to seize the nomination. She is shameless.

Sounds like a pretty good movie. I'd go watch it
