DNC giving nomination to BHO by disenfranchising FL-MI
by BlueDolphin
+4 Reply

To show you how bad the MSM is, I have been listening to Fox News and don't shoot me, Rush Limbaugh.

Rush made a great point today.

He said that Hillary wouldn't be stealing the nomination by getting the Florida and Michigan delegates.

He said the Democratic party is giving the nomination to Obama by disenfranchising those voters.

He's absolutely right and she needs to fight them on this.

Also, with friends like McGovern, who needs enemies? It's one thing to call and talk to Hillary in private, but to go on national news and then stab her in the back by endorsing Obama.

She's stronger than I can imagine. She's had so many hurts. I hurt with her.

FL and MI

Sent this to my Senator:

Please push the DNC to seat the Florida and Michigan delegates NOW - frankly this disenfranchisement of voters is so off putting to me I am questioning my lifetime membership in the party.

The DNC sent me a letter saying they would not address seating the delegates until AFTER a nominee is chosen.

How does that value their votes?

If they wait until the votes are irrelevant, they are not better than the Republicans in the last election, and I will sadly resign my membership and join the Independents.

I need you to stand up for Democratic voters. Stand up Senator , and make your voice heard.

TODAY MAY 7,2008 "I VOTED"

I HAVE BEEN A STRONG SUPPORTER FOR HILLARY SINCE FEBRUARY 2007.

TOMORROW, I'LL STILL BE A STRONG SUPPORTER OF HILLARY.

HOWEVER TODAY, I VOTED TO LEAVE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY,

I'AM NOW AN "INDEPENDENT". I HAVE BEEN A "LOYAL" DEMOCRAT FOR OVER 41 YEARS.

BUT SINCE THE DNC HAS YET TO RECOGNIZE MY LEGAL VOTE IN FLORIDA, I COULD NO LONGER REMAIN A DEMOCRAT.

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY I KNEW HAS ABANDONED ME AND MY FELLOW FLORIDA DEMOCRATES.

THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED "MONTHS" AGO.

IF OBAMA BECOMES THE NOMINEE, I WILL "NOT" VOTE FOR HIM,EVEN IF HILLARY WAS ON THE TICKET.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY WILL LOSE THE ELECTION.

I WILL STILL WORK ON HILLARY'S BEHALF UNTIL A NOMINEE IS SELECTED, IF THAT NOMINEE IS NOT HILLARY,THE CITIZENS OF THE COUNTRY WILL HAVE MADE A GRAVE MISTAKE ONCE AGAIN.

I have made the same decision

Pat,

I too am a lifelong Democrat. I live in Oregon. My vote never counts in this party, so why bother.

I am sending in my primary ballot tonight.

Next week after the vote is counted both of us in this household will become Independents.

Enough is Enough.

Never will vote for Obama

A great idea, Brittany.

I live in CT now ( Don't get me started on Sen. Dodd, another Dem I won't ever vote for) but grew up in Philly and helped out at the Phila downtown office and in Providence, Ri.

I will never for for Obama.

My parents were WW2 vets and 3 cousins served in Vietmam.

To vote for someone whose spouse is now just proud of being American and who just now is wearing a flag pin, it's a big deal for me and my family.

There is too much stuff and people in his background and contacts now that frankly scares me. This family is for Hillary all the way and will vote Republican if she is not the nominee.

Fed-up Dems ...FL, MI and more
by Lunesta

Good post, DB. A lot of people / Dems. feel the way those BLOGgers do ... particularly Dems. with strong military connections & history, as in my own family & that of the (last) person you're quoting here. The far lefty Liberal Dem elitists on here who are so SO headily pro-Obama just refuse to see it. I'm afraid they have a big shock ahead of them in November. They actually think their guy, with his unknown, questionable background, virtually invisible voting record and highly questionable associates, is going to beat John McCain. Amazing.

Both states
by ducadmo

will be seated - in some manner. In what manner remains to be determined and it will most likely be determined by the DNC Rules Committee which will meet (I believe) at the end of this month.

I personally don't think the results of the Michigan primary will stand as is, nor should they. I also think there should still be some penalty, but I have no doubt that they will be seated.

yep. Blue Dolphin, they won't be happy. They knew they had been placed in an untenable postion by Dean and Brazile. They won't appreciate a split of delgates either. Michigan had a plan in place for a revote a few months ago but Obama turned it down. I know Florida's state chair for the DNC begged Brazile for a way to get their primary to count. And Brazile told her, no way..

I know it will be a problem in the general. These states will remember what a bad spot the DNC placed them in.

But the nomination is Mr. Baracks' Obama's by all accounts.

Nice to see you, Blue Dolphin.

actually, that's a lie.
by Speaker Nancy

even if you count MI and FL votes, Obama is ahead in both popular vote and in delegates.

Obama's victory in NC wiped out Clinton's in PA.

And I'm not at all surprised that you listen to Rush Limpdick. You, Justoffal, Doggydevil, and NoStar? Quite. the. Crew.

Penalty for what???
by run75441

duc:

Because Dean fucked it up and lied to the rest of the Democratic Party about the agreement between Michigan and the DNC that Michigan pursued with the DNC since 2000, accepted such agreement in 2007, only to have it broken by Dean and Brazile later that year? Why should Michigan be penalized . . . fire Dean.

The results in Michigan are what they are or if you wish to change them, apply the same percentage as other large states which was 55% - 45% I believe. You personally do not know what took place in Michigan and your surmising such is silly.

No . . .
by run75441

Laurie:

As I have stated before the Senate, which is mostly Republican, adjourned without taking action for political reasons. They understand the politics of the state and how they can screw this around to their advantage.

Obama had nothing to do with this and he was never presented the agreement.

Were all of the candidates represented
by Speaker Nancy

on the Michigan ballot? I read somewhere that they were not.

Nancy:

I explained this elsewhere and I am sure you can find it by MBTU Levin and Dingell's letters to the DNC. It is a long story and I do not want to C&P it here or rehash it here. Think you can find it by doing a search for Levin?

True

and I agree

Obama took his name off the Michigan ballot. He was on Florida and Clinton won.

A poster suggested we all complain long and loud to Dean.I sent my email off today and was very blunt.I suggest you all do the same.

I did hear that the vote would take place in Michigan.Obama fought long and hard with his team of Lawyers to stop both states from revoting. This from a guy who says,"All votes Count!"

Obama reminds me so much of Bush it is scarey.

His family has not been vetted at all and no one can tell me small doners are shoveling out this much money.

Not interested
by ducadmo

At this point, I don't care what happened. If you have a problem with Dean, get rid of him (I don't care about that, either), but it was the Rules Committee that voted to strip Michigan of its delegates and those are the rules.

As I've said before, I don't think any big state should be in the starting lineup. Not this election, not any election. Period. Too many delegates too soon. Having two small relatively purple states as trial heats works for me - and then a little breather. Nevada really was a good choice for a third. Why shouldn't there be some representation from the West somewhere? What are we, chopped liver? Too many greedy people pushing their way to the front of the line isn't much of an orderly process. Just my opinion.

I don't have a problem with arbitrarily seating Michigan with a 55-45 Clinton/Obama split. Nor do I have a problem with seating Michigan as-is with half-delegate votes. I just would not want nor expect to see Michigan arrive with the results of the so-called primary election.

I agree that the whole thing was a mess. Better luck next time. Hope you guys figure it out by then.

Different Response than what I Expected
by run75441

duc:

Brewer, the Michigan DNC Chairman, offered a 69 - 59 split of delegates. Clinton earned 73, so she would lose 4. My friend called me moments ago to deliver the news as he knew I was interested and entwined in this with all of you here. It can be found here also: <link> Michigan Delegates Settle on Split

It still does not win for Clinton and it would not do so at 73 either. The only way this will be settled is if Dean leaves and takes Brazile with him. The primary was legit, legal, and well publicized as to how to vote.

I apologize for my harshness; but, this state is up for grabs this November and we have plenty of work to do. My County and Township will vote Repub as usual. We can only work to close the gap and still not win.
