If Hillary gets her way and Florida and Michigan votes count and she wins the Democratic nomination would Obama run as an independent? If Florida and Michigan don't count, is it possible Hillary would run as an independent?

Sure,if she wants to guarantee a McCain victory in November.

Her not being the Democratic nominee is guaranteeing McCain the nomination.

Well, I guess Democrats should just give up then.

McCain already has the nomination. the real question is whether Hillicons are more interested in winning the nomination or making this a better country.You sisserve hillary who has forged a strong history which will make her one of the guiding people of the party for years to come. Not on the 08 ticket but a force nonetheless.

I honestly don't believe either candidate would be willing to make this kind of radical deviation from party doctrine. The loser in the nomination race is almost a winner. Obama has a good shot at a VP nomination if he somehow loses the Presidential. Either one, if not nominated for VP, will be a leader in Congress.

If Dems win in November, either one will work closely with the other. Their policies are pretty close to each other.

If Dems lose, there will be someone very ready to say, "I told you so," and who will have a major leg up in the contest against Pres. McCain.

On the other hand, if one goes independent and McCain takes office, blame for the loss will be astronomical. There is no way either Hillary or Obama, both careful politicans would take that kind of risk.
