look at this.

I was googling things about videos and the 1960s last night and sex drugs and rock n roll took me to a google site that has something like this link.

What is this all about?
Are people buying prescription drugs via the internet today? Or am I just the last to know.

After all I am just a middle aged mom with a teenage son.

Is this the new wave of the futrure?

The only thing I know, as a nurse by law ,no one can buy a prescription for drugs in the Class 1-5 category under the Harrison narcotic Laws of the U.S. without a 'script'.

By law you MUST see a doctor face to face to get these prescriptions.

So how are these people online getting away with this?
Anyone know?

It amazed me when I saw this. Look at all the stuff they offer online.

Shocking.

What's the deal with this? kids could buy it with their mom's credit card..how would they know?

Is the governement cracking down on this somehow, someway?

It's frightening ,really.

Yes,Laurie. People have been buying drugs on the net for quite a while now.

You will hear a story ever so often on the cable news, then it fades away. They buy prescription drugs by email.

Psst...Wanna buy a tab of Lortab? Getcha high...

Seriously, you nurses and doctors have the highest drug abuse rates in the country because you have the most access to drugs. Without a prescription (script), I might add.

Physician, heal thyself.

Oh yes, I forgot, we really need to up the drug war on top of all the other wars we're fighting on our Chinese credit card.

Seriously, I doubt if many people are getting mind altering drugs without a prescription--which seems to be your great fear.

Well you may be a bit mis-informed on that. For one thing at my Nursing Registry we are routinely tested for drug screens.and require also yearly updates on our Health care Provider CPR and Fire Saftety Certs.

As well as yearly health exams to make sure all of our immunizations are up to date

I think you may be under the mis impression that there is no tracking, control or oversight when it comes to illegal drug use.

Do I have access to narcotics on my job? Of Course. Would I be hired if I was not holding up to date fully vetteed credentials? no.

And I do work and am in great demand from my Registry.

But my question and my concern is this apparent wild online sale of illgeal controlled substances. Are you aware of this?

Gosh! That is Amazing,MaryAnne!

No wonder the country is in recession. They are all doped up and going into debt for Vicodin. Sad that.

It is illegal to buy prescriptions of this sort without seeing an MD. There must be some government oversight.

Wonder if they'd take an order

....for a pound or two of high-grade Sinsemilla?

Nurses have their own website related to addiction here:http://www.recoveringnurses.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

This link, from the same site, <link> , offers a good discussion on the subject.

I worked with registered nurses in home care. Some stole medications from their patients to feed their addiction. Some were caught... some were not.

I laughed at the Chinese credit card reference. It's so not funny though.

you should have reported them DT2. Or did you share the drugs with them yourself? That's really not cool ,enabling a crime.

How dare you accuse me of anything here, LaurieAnn.

Difficult as it may be for you to believe, I never used drugs while working in the nursing profession.

The facts regarding the nurses I mentioned came out after an investigation. I was not involved with the investigation. At the close of the investigation the department held a meeting of all staff, nursing and otherwise. That's when I learned about it. I was surprised to learn that nurses would do such a thing, steal from patients as they did.

I was also told by the nurse who was fired for her drug abuse, months after the fact.

I'm surprised you claim to not be aware of the high instances of prescription drug abuse among registered nurses. It was a topic presented during my CNA and CHHA training in California.

It's difficult to believe that if you knew you were not participating.

But I really don't care. You are clearly no longer a threat to society since you no longer work in the medical field.

Where are now? So, Korea or Canada? I know you've long wanted to renounce your American citizenship because you don't like your country anymore.

Re: You don't know me.

It's not surprising, though, that you would accuse someone you don't know, have never met or spoken with, of anything, really. Again, I didn't know about the nurse stealing drugs from patients until after she was caught and fired. If I had known, I certainly would have turned her in. There are no gray areas regarding laws of license imo.

I was never a threat to anyone while in the CNA profession. I earned awards and everything. I've never been a threat to anyone who didn't threaten me first.

I was recently offered a job with the Nurses Registry here, btw. Unsolicited. Imagine that.

"Where are now?" If you mean me, where am I now, I live in the state of Washington, on a tiny island north of Seattle. I voted for Barack Obama in the Washington caucus and I plan to vote for him in the general election. I volunteer at the offices of the Whatcom County Democrats. I was elected alternate delegate to the county convention. All of the delegates in my district attended the county convention, so I was put to work as a computer support technician.

I love this country, it's the administration I have concerns about, What with 9.11 and that war Bush started, and Clinton voted for. And, yes, at one time I did consider leaving the U.S. for good. I lived in South Korea for a year, at the same time my children were living there. My daughter is still there, teaching English and attending grad school. America could learn a few things from Korea, but that's not for this post.

But I have renewed hope for us all here in America. That hope begins with the nomination of Barack Obama for the Democratic candidate for President of these United States.

Time will tell.
