Rush Delivers Indiana
by Urquhart
+1 Reply

She should be grateful that he has a crush on her, because it was only his army of volunteers that enables her to claim a split decision after last night's dismaying debacle.

10% of Indiana voters were self-described Republicans. Remember that self-described bit, it comes in handy later. Of those, about half voted for Hillary, according to exit polls.

The media reaction was predictable. Operation Chaos didn't work. Au contraire. Because, you see, Rush has made a special point of telling the Indiana enlistees to lie to the exit pollsters. Say you're a Democrat, say you're for Obama, wear Birkenstocks. The reason for this special emphasis in Indiana was the threat by party officials to challenge Republican cross-overs. He hammered this topic the past few days.

So Chaos delivered at least 2% here, which was the margin. Imagine if Hillary had lost both states. Yikes. There'd be no way to go on.

You're welcome.

It's such a good thing

...that Americans not only let a loud-mouthed, pill-popping pervert dictate our morality to us, but let him help decide how we're to vote and how the electoral system will choose candidates.

I'm sure it's good for him to be involved like this. Part of the recovery process, no doubt.

Dictate? Decide?

I wasn't aware that Rush was twisting any arms or putting guns to any heads.

Just a harmless, lovable fuzzball . . .

Too little too late. Though it's nauseating to watch the Clintons grovel at the feet of Lush Limbo--Bill was on the show. They'll apparently do anything to win. Pander, pander, pander.

The honeymoon wouldn't last long, anyway, since the Clintons only care about the Clintons and Rush just cares about Rush.

But I think after today the jig is up. Clinton Deathwatch has her chances now at 4.2%. That's 1 in 25.

The longer this lasts

the more Democrats we sign up. You guys are making my job far too easy. We needed this to last until Oregon, because Obama is going to need to win in Oregon in the general. The Democratic party is - if nothing else - controlled chaos and we thank you for your support.
A bit of hyperbole

..just as your description of him as "harmless, lovable (luvable?) fuzzball" is a bit of understatement. Or possible a litote? I'm a bit rusty on my linguistic terms.
You Stumped Me
by Urquhart

Difficult to do. I usually just act like I know what I'm saying and plow straight on ahead. Gets remarkable results. But I have to pause here and ask what the Hector Alizando is a litote?

"Harmless, lovable fuzzball" is a term which Rush frequently applies to himself, when accused of wreaking mischief.

Bill Was on the Show?
by Urquhart

How did I miss that? Rush hardly ever has guests. It's mainly just him talking for 15 hours a week. When was this?

I thought your Operation Chaos post was fairly accurate, so you must listen occasionally. But I just can't imagine President Clinton calling in to the EIB network.

I Ain't Buying It
by Urquhart

Wishful thinking. Sure, McCain faces an uphill struggle, but this just isn't helping Obama.

I am pleased, however, at the brilliant agreement not to campaign in Florida, and to take names off the ballot in Michigan. That was helpful. Howard Dean was a predictably bad party chairman.

The good news is that rank and file Republicans are better people than what Rush would have them be. Exit polling had them split 52-48 for Hillary, not much different than the 51-49 final margin. Now if 130,000 Republicans voted, Hillary would have had a net 2,600 lead in that group. But I will concede that simply looking at the raw numbers doesn't tell the whole story. Republicans hate the Clinton's, or the Klintoon's they prefer to say, then one would have expected Obama to win that group by, say, 60-40. The Rush factor, then, turned what would have been a 13,000 vote gain into a 2,600 vote loss.

Now, it you take 15,600 votes away from Hillary and give them to Obama you indeed can say that Rush flipped the outcome to Clinton, for all its worth. I don't buy the "they lied to the press" tall tale.

I can only imagine (thank god!) the self-congratulatory preening that would be going on in the ranks of the misbegotten (fascist) cons this morning had Hillary bested Sen Obama last night.
Fox and friends would be SHAMELESSLY crediting Rush, singing his praises, for her winning the primaries and now, NOW that she has failed in her bid for the nomaination, what are you all going to do?

Even Fox's poor Dick Morris, who has made a small fortune betraying his relationship with the Clintons, will find it very difficult if not impossible, to insert himself into the Democratic campaign from here on in without Hillary to toss around.

Will Hillary and Bill be sending Rush a thank-you note for his efforts on their behalf?
Not concerned about Obama
by ducadmo

it looks like he can take care of himself, but getting Democrats - particularly young potential Democrats registered and voting helps all Democrats. Obama is just a lightning rod and one the Democratic party needs to rebuild a young grassroots base. We're in this for the long term, pal.

A Chaos Denier
by Urquhart

You just don't get it. The whole point of the thing is to be stealthy and forbidden. Especially in Indiana, where the apparatchiks were warning us not to try any funny bidness. Or else. The else was a bit vague, but it was frequently stated.

It's cloak and dagger. Spy vs. Spy. Fun, in other words. And lying to an exit pollster is child's play.

She owes Indiana to us. And therefore, she owes just barely staying in the race to us. She can't say it, for obvious reasons, but she can be nicer to us when she's Majority Leader.

Morris Is in Trouble
by Urquhart

I met him once. Odd little man. Perfectly nice.

But I hope he kept the royalties from all them book deals and invested them wisely. If the Clintons exit the stage, he's got nowhere to go.

I Get You People Confused

You're not the one with the kid who went up to Iowa and disastrously campaigned for Dean, are you? Maybe that was someone else. Wondering where all this youth vote idealism comes from all of a sudden.
