Why Clinton Persists

We see, in many of the analyses of yesterday's primary outcome, a base canard that the only thing justifying Clinton's continued pursuit of the nomination is the latent racism of down-scale white voters. The implication is that anyone who does not embrace Obama is a racist. And many young and otherwise "enlightened" folks have enjoyed demonstrating their freedom from racism by supporting him. They deride and cannot fathom the reluctance of others to do so...seeing no possible explanation other than prejudice.

What they cannot understand is the common sense of the largely older and less sophisticated Democrats. That sense is that Obama and his core supporters are far outside the mainstream. Obama raises serious doubts as to his adherence to their traditional American values.

While there are apparently not enough centrists left in the Democratic Party to stop the nomination of an extreme left candidate, many will find themselves strongly attracted to a centrist and maverick Republican who came within a whisker of being too "liberal" to get his party's nomination. It is this calculus that makes the Clintons unwilling to quit...their hope that the party will yet awaken from its stupor.

I wholeheartedly agree. I'm a die-hard for Hillary, but I'm young, male, not poor, not blue collar, not racist, and liberal. All the stats point me toward Obama, but I'm also someone that's been following politics before the Iowa Caucus - and I can't stand his overthrow.

Everyone calls it the act of racist white people keeping him from the nomination. That's not true - it's actually the act of racist black people that have pushed his candidacy, torn our country apart, and alienated the middle class (and called them less educated, poor and racist).

Anyway, Amen.

She persist because she is a great American. She has been working for a long time to make life better for regular American folks. How sad that many African Ameicans have long forgotten how much Bill Clinton did for them. Remember they used to called Bill Clinton the first African American President! Why because he stood by them when everyone else criticized him for it. Ignorant America are indeed afraid of the commotion blacks will raise if Obama is not the nominee!! and the stupid followers do not understand that whether they vote for Obama or not they still be racist in the eyes of ignorance. Everyone is complaining about the economy.. they long forgotten that during Clinton Adm. the economy and view of U.S.A before it became U.S.A of Africa was indeed very positive. Now as we look from afar most of American haters are cheering Obama as they know that Americans are made the laughing stock of the world. go right ahead Americans vote for Obama then for sure you do not need to worry about Al Queda nor everyone else the enemy is right here and within. Not need to agree with me right now. I see total devastation and failure. I see famine and disbelief. Obama then will desrve to lead the biggest cult ever as he and his associates take good old U.S.A as their temple.

to your remarks America has been doing well closing the gap between the blacks and white division so much so as to ignore the other races within U.S.A as evidence by the mere fact that Obama is running for President. Now that all the African America ignorance comes more to the surface and all and all Obama is reviving hatred and divisiness amongst people who come to know how pathethic many black Americans are and how they still cling to the belief that the wold owes them somrthing and wanting more and more without having to work for it. Jews suffered more than blacks but they work hard earn their living and have proven to the world that they are dignify and true warriors.

I rest my case. Through all the progress made of uniting people together your arrogance thinking the world owes you something is what is causing people to see you for what you really are. Yes there is racicism but is not coming from white people it is coming from blacks who call themselves African Americans and trying to run this race and election just like typical Africans. By the way "chickens coming home to roost" comes exacly from the Wright which of course represents exacly what most of you aare all about. By the way I am black but never call myself African because I do not live there, never visited there and Africa has never done nothing to improve my life. Show some pride and dignity not ignorance as you assume that I was white and I am not!!!

tj cerveza you are so wrong and you make me laugh. It is your arrogance and superior attitude which is going to ruin all the accomplishements of race unity in this country. I happened to be black but lots of you make me sick and I am ashame of you. I am black but do not call myself African America. Africa has done nothing for me nor my family America has.
