Clinton Wins Split Decision - Obama Unelectable!
by MichaelBernard1

Dickerson does not know what he is talking about. Indiana is such a "next door" State to Illinois, that Obama can practically be considered a Favorite Son candidate in Indiana. Yet, Clinton tied him there, and beat him in North Carolina. How in the world do Democrats propose to win the White House without Hillary Clinton heading up their ticket? They live in a fantasy world if they think that Obama is the least bit electable come the Fall General Election. This guy has more skeletons in his closet than Vincent Price or Bella Lagosi ever did, and I guarantee you, come Halloween time, they are all going to come out to haunt all of us for sure, should Obama ever be the Democratic nominee.

One of the original American Black Mayorships was occasioned in Gary, Indiana, just South and East of the South Chicago neighborhood of Barack Obama's Heartland territory.

I have to admit, Barack Obama reminds me more and more of Abraham Lincoln, all lean and cool, elegant in his self assurance, and intelligent and well spoken in his verbal electioneering pablum. But let's get real -- He is a Harvard Elitist, which makes for absolutely the worst credential for running for U.S. President that there is. I mean, look at it this way: Mitt Romney merely served as Governor of the State of Massachusetts, and the guy went nowhere on the national stage. Obama, similarly, is tainted forever by his Harvard imprimatur. I do not want him as my President, period. He can be the Veep, and maybe succeed to the top job that way, but "right off the bat" forget it. The guy has not even put in any serious amount of time as a U.S. Senator, and his record as a Senator is quite unimpressive.

We have had six years of War in Iraq Two, and all Obama can talk about, is how he was right six years ago, supposedly opposing this wasteful, stupid war because he made a Harvard like Oration opposing it, during the run-up drumbeat for War.

However, at the time, I did not see Obama giving hour after hour of speeches on the floor of the U.S. Senate, turning purple around the collar at times, like West Virginia Senator Harry Byrd did. In fact, while watching Byrd speaking vividly and unforgettably in opposition to this Bush Junior War, quite frankly, Obama was about as cool and nowhere to be found as anyone I remember. Talk about cool and collected. The guy is a total "Lightweight."

Hillary Clinton was willing to rattle the saber then and now, but she was not anywhere near as incompetent as to actually start an unasked for and unnecessary war. Remember: Under Bill Clinton, we did not have any unforgivable "foreign entanglements." Under Bush Junior, it has been one after another nonstop "foreign entanglement." I do not see John McCain offering any solution to this American foreign policy folly, but neither do I see Barack Obama as a politician with the Gravitas to address my concerns, whether foreign or domestic.

Hillary Clinton is and remains my Gal Pal for the U.S. Presidency, not because I agree with her about everything -- I don't -- but because she is intelligent, competent, experienced, knows the issues and the opposition, can "hit the ground running" and yes, has the requisite Gravitas.

I would forgive Hillary if she presented Barack Obama as her Vice Presidential running mate; I would not forgive the Democratic Party, should they pass over Hillary to choose this Obama neophyte to head their Ticket this Fall, over her.

As to Slate's Author, Dickerson, he does not garner my vote nor my approval, either. I do not see a Cabinet or appointive position in Hillary Clinton's Presidential Cabinet in his future.

Oh give me a break. It's painfully obvious you've devoted yourself whole heartedly to Hillary. Her family had their 8 years to shine, they are done. Just because she was a stand up gal when her husband was having an affair and because she has a 110 million dollar piggy bank, doesn't make her presidential material. UGH. The numbers have proven, over 200,000 people disagree with you and all of her supporters. Its time for you to move on, let go of the BS politics "his pastor said this 20 years ago blah blah blah" "he thinks we turn to guns and religion because we're simple minded blah blah blah" QUIT PLAYING POLITICS. Skeletons in the closet...HA! You'd cry a river if his socks didn't match!

"Yet, Clinton tied [Barack Obama in Indiana], and beat him in North Carolina."

We have a new contestant for the Hillary Clinton "up is down" award! By flipping Clinton's double digit loss in NC into a win for her, MichaelBernard1 has joined the ranks of those Clinton supporters who have steadfastly refused to acknowledge reality.

OBAMA 08!

I have to agree with Michael B. Ms. Clinton will get my vote. I hope the super-delegates realize that to vote Obama in would be a sure loss for the party.

At first, I thought Obama might be a good choice, but as he talks and as his wife talks, I have done a complete turn-around. HE is exploiting his own people to get the votes, and most don't seem to see the man for what his is. The Pastor's comments have nothing to do with my thoughts.

Obama is not "for the American people".... People like me and others who are normal. everyday humans trying to make a living in this country.

This has nothing to do with his race. I would vote for any canidate; of any color; and of any party; if they presented themselves as a true person for the people. Obana might have had my vote before but not now.

If Obama does win, I will take an active part in getting McCain elected. This would be getting involved with politics for the first time ever in my life! But I will not stand by and support Obama; and am willing to swing way out to stop him.

I am not a McCain fan, but cannot see Obama as a leader.....God help us all if he does get into the race.

You have absolutely no substantial or valid reasoning within your post BJWV55

Not to worry. Passions will cool long before November 4. When they do, Hillary Clinton supporters will come to realize that following John McCain over a cliff doesn't make any sense.

Ahhh ... MichaelBernard1 the Dem Party is NOT giving Sen Obama the nomination ... the American people are VOTING for Sen Obama ... you know ... more delegates , more of the popular vote, more new Dems registered, more money raised, better run campaign ... etc. By every measure that is used ... Sen Obama IS winning!!!

You CAN believe your lie-ing eyes!

Well I have to say MichealBenard1, I have heard some unbelievable spin before, but you my friend have taken it to a new level. Clinton "beat him in North Carolina". Well, that's news to everybody in America., because we're all under the impression he beat her. By double digits no less. The question isn't how dem's expect to win if she isn't heading the ticket. The question is how can they win if she is. If Barack Obama has skeletons in his closet, then Hillary has a whole haunted house. All that "baggage" she refered to in the last debate, will be on full display should she get the nomination. Obama has just been too nice, to his own detriment I believe, to drag it out. But come the fall the republicans would have no such qualms. Why do you think they want her to win so bad? Getting a Harvard education, that was paid for with scholarships I remind you, does not make you an elitist. An elitist that after graduating from Harvard decided to go into community service in one of the poorest area's of Chicago, when he could have gotten a job at almost any law firm in the country. Yeah, what a snob. Hillary's been a senator for one term longer than he has. I don't think that actually qualifies her as a senior senator. The reason Obama wasn't giving speeches on the senate floor "genius", and I use that term loosely, is because at the time he wasn't in the senate. I don't think they allow you to make speeches on the senate floor, you know... if you're not... actually in the senate. He was in the state senate in Illinois at the time. I really don't mind that Clinton voted for the war. we were all sold a bill of goods. But gosh darn it, I do wish she had actually read the report before voting for it. Way to pay attention to details. That details thing might really come in handy should she get the nomination. If what Obama's been through the last 1 1/2 months doesn't show you he "has the gravitas" to handle whatever's thrown at him, nothing will. Hillary is intelligent, and competant, as for experience...that depends on what your definition of experience is. As for Hillary picking Obama as her VP, I feel just the opposite. I can forgive Obama making her his VP, but would never forgive the Democratic partyf or choosing her over him. Not when he lead's in delegates, the popular vote, state's won, and is closing in rapidly on super delegates. As for Dickerson not being chosen to serve in your cabinet, I highly doubt you would be his choice for president either.

Ranman,

I've been on Slate for quite a while but you actually made me sign on! Your reply to MichaelBernard was...well I can't find the words for it. How about...COOL! You said everything I could've said. Take care. Tl1001

Saddly, I doubt if we'll ever here from our hard-core Hillary supporter, MichealBenard1, again. I bet he feels dumb right now. Wasn't it also Democrats like this who were trying desparately to reverse the election of Bush, because of some screwy numbers??

Now seeing how they think 56/42 is a Clinton "WIN", I can easily see why they never succeeded in doing that.

At least he was close to correct about an Indiana tie....but ties don't win elections......especially when your opponent picks up even MORE numbers from a different state that same day. That's called "Going in the hole".

Evidently his gal-pal Hillary can't count either, judging by her response after she learned of her loss in North Carolina....."Well, tonight we've come from behind, we've broken the tie, and thanks to you it's full speed on to the White House."......no Hillary, you're now 8 delegates FURTHER behind Obama. Ties don't win elections.

You make a number of good points, but you show your true hand when you think you can "forgive" Obama for considering Clinton as Veep, while seeing no future for Obama in a Clinton adminstration (which I think is true).

Your point about Obama's position on the war in 2002 is disingenuous. He was a state politician, so TV crews didn't follow him around and and broadcast every utterance.

Clinton does have experience and more gravitas than the punditocracy is presenting her as having.

But since, the health care debacle, she's consistantly been the unwilling to move too far out from under the shadow of the Washington/Wall Street establishment.

These are the same people who sat silent or shilled for Mr Bush's war. IT was the Clinton Adminstration that rolled over for the Telecommunications "Reform" Act, which created the climate for the corporate media we have today.

I am not mad at her about NAFTA..

Her positions on health care are spot on.

But her support of a "gas tax holiday" is exactly the same sort of election year gimmick that underlines the cynicism of "business as ususal" politics in Washington.

You are not very bright my friend. KNOWING that McCain will continue George Bush's policies, high gas prices (oh that's right, he is in the oil business...hmmmm), war, foreclosures, worst economy in 30 years....etc., etc. .etc)

I'm wondering what your "I'm not a racist" ears are hearing when Obama or his wife speaks? I don't hear ANY of what you are claiming. Perhaps your own "scewed" perceptions lead you to "read" something into what they are saying!

After what the republicans have done to this country...I don't see how ANY reasonable human being would want them back in office for 4 more years.

You sound like a major traitor to me!

Don't be too hard on him. He who professes his innocence too loudly is usually guilty. Probably an operation chaos operative. Not too bright you see.
