Will the blood letting ever stop among the democrats?
by LaurieAnnM

Even as HRC appears to be rising in the national pollls(USA Gallup has her up by 7% this morning)

..I wonder if it isn't too little too late....last week Obama lead by 2% .

So that would appear to show he has been hurt by the Wright debacle. But, the Gallup poll has been up and down mostly hovering around with a virtual tie between them for weeks really.

It's probably more than probable that the Wright incident and BO's bitter comments hurt him fatally for his chances of winning in the general election.

However, because the polls still consistently show a virtual tie in the national polls...I suspect the party in order to save itself from a fight and a challenge regarding Howard Dean's and Donna Brazil's backdoor machinations within the DNC ,where they front loaded the primaries to favor diversity for Obama, specifically, they just might.

They want to avoid that exposure at the DNC at all costs.

And for the DNC to avoid the embarrassment that it would cause them if they have to really deal with how they managed to disenfranchise two major states(Fla. and Michigan)..It is then quite possible the supers will break for Obama in order to avoid that fight an bad exposure.

We know the supers are being pressured by Dean to continue to come out for Barack Obama, if only to save the party from a long protracted fight over the delegates and votes from Florida and Michigan.

So...

in the end, Dean may well prevail and Obama could very be the nominee.

The pain and the debate between the two factions Clinton supporters and Obama supporters, has been long, and filled with great angst ,anger and a good deal of outright vitriole.

Can that chasm ever be healed whomever the nominee is?
I am not so sure.

I see and recognize the great desire for the BO supporters to see their candidate win. They are dedicated. I even read one Barack supporter post that she was praying as hard as she could for him to win. That's powerful.

This election and this candidate really matters to his supporters in a very serious , no even that's an understatement..his candidancy matters to them in a very, very serious manner.

No one can argue with the intense need the Obama supporters seem to feel about their guy.

It's deep.

Some Hillary supporters are also quite dedicated to her and believe very strongly and assuredly that she is,to them(myself included ),the most able, competant, and sincere candidate, who without question(in our minds) is far and away the best choice.

I feel she can be trusted to get the job done, especially on Health Care since it is the Achilles Heel of her entire life's work.

Health Care is something she desperately wants to achieve for Americans. So, I believe she can and she will achieve this for Americans, if elected.

Because that particular issue matters so much to her personally because of how Newt and Co. thwarted her efforts when Bill was in office. I know she wants to get in there so that she can and will make sure a Comprehensive Health Care plan for ALL Americans come to fruition

And I know she has continued to do the work necessary to understand all of the dynamics of the issue on Health Care Reform.

She is the one who will get that done.

Obama doesn't even sound as if he has a working grasp on the dynamics of that issue beyond platitudes.So...

With Obama ..I am not nearly so sure what this guy will do,

What do we know of him?

He's personable, attractive, gives a good speech and made some very dumb political moves in not vetting his crazy anti white racist race baiting pastor.

That's about it.

But a certain segment of the American people, if you ever stood waiting in line at the quick stop store, will line up every pay day and hand over 1/2 or even more of their paycheck for lottery tickets.....sad as that may seem..but who among us has never witnessed that sad sight?

Therefore...I suspect it is possible there is a good possibility Americans are willing to toss the dice on the future of their country and it's security and cast their vote for Barack Obama.

Because his supporters so desperately want to believe he is the next Abe Lincoln, JFK, MLK all wrapped up in one tall package, crystallized inside the word:"Change!"

Who knows? He could be the next Abe Lincoln(I know the goose hangs very very very high among his supporters hoping dreaming that he is indeed every bit as honest as'Honest Abe' ..

....as the line went in The Wizard of Oz:Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain(Wright,Ayres,Rezco)nope just never you all mind about him, now.

They want this guy so bad and so much for some reason that they will shout down anyone who questions him or does not see him as they do.

"Don't question him!""Stop!"

They chant' It's doesn't matter, it doesn't matter,it doesn't matter..." about Wright.....

.even , now that he finally denounced Wright, even after he initially called Wright his life inspiration..they chant on...

and it matters not to them..they see no discrepancy in it at all.

So, if it is Obama and if he is next Lincoln,JFK,MLK and Ghandi all rolled into one...that will be wonderful.

However...being a Free Country ...

I won't vote for Barack Obama in the general if Dean pushes the supers to go for him...

It is far too much of a risky and to me likely recipe for further disaster.

But, as that wheel of chance spins, I will hope

and indeed pray for the best for my country.

Not bad, very typical Clinton logic but there is one small problem besides the fact that Clinton is losing.

Obama is more experienced than Clinton, Laurie.

1. Obama has 7 years in the state legislature, 3 in the US Senate for a total of 10 years of direct elected office experience.

2. Clinton has 7 years total of direct, not indirect, direct experience.

Granted, Clinton has a longer track record as a spouse to powerful people but is that really what we need? A wife?

Clinton also made three gigantic mistakes in her career.

First, she failed horribly at health care in Bill's first term.

Second, her judgement regarding her husbands infidelities over decades shows her inability to distance herself from betrayal even when her husbands indiscretions are head line news all over the world. I remember being in Hong Kong when the headline was about the supposed diseased penis of the POTUS. That was a new low in my book. At some point, a person should take stock and say enough is enough. In this case though, its never enough when power and greed is at stake. No personal humiliation is too much to bear, none.

Third, she voted for the War of Terror in Iraq and defended it over and over again for years.

I fail to grasp why anyone would give her a passing grade for her political and personal career. Giving her power with this kind of record would be like asking Condi Rice to read a PDB entitled "Russia about to attack USA in twenty minutes".

You just wrote about 1,000 words and didn't answer your own question. Assuming it wasn't a rhetorical question, I have a provisional answer:

It'll stop once it is no longer fun. Once the bloodlust is sated. And the party may end up stronger for it.

I appreciate your honesty in saying that you wouldn't vote for the Democratic candidate if it's Obama and you consider that Dean or whoever played "dirty". That's pretty understandable. Hopefully, you won't vote for McCain, which is cutting your nose off...

This was rather humorous of you:

I feel she can be trusted to get the job done, especially on Health Care since it is the Achilles Heel of her entire life's work.

Funny, I thought people should beware the Achilles Heel.

The contest between Clinton and Obama turns out to be a referendum on the same old Democrat/American propensity to easy money, government handouts, political pandering and generational entitlements versus a thinly veiled agenda for serious change.

I see that more and more, and I hope I'm right. It's time for people to recognize the imperative for change and act on it.

Hi Dubina! So for you it crystallizes down to the old guard, vs.the much of vaunted Obama mantra of the word: "Change",i.e... new, fresh, better, best, miracle working product words and ad sales pitches etc.. etc.. and all that means or does not mean.

That works great for you.

Okay..like I say...spin that wheel.

As Woolly noted he sees Obama as vastly more experianced even than Clinton...I don't agree..but it's fine for people to make their choices anyway they like.

Wishing you a nice morning(It's still early here in L.A. area..oh..Monday Mondays,eh?)

Hi Woolley. I do admire your love for your guy..even I believe it is mis-placed and mis-appropriated in it's appeal and his motivation.

So, you were in Hong Kong when the Monica thing broke and it upset you because a bunch of nutty foreigners over there mis-translated the story to mean Clinton's penis was diseased?
Do I have that right?
That's your rationale for being tired on The days of peace and prosperity under Clinton?
Okay.

Let's hope your ideas are correct and Obama and Reverend Wright's inspiring words will bring back honor on your country's good name.

Best to you, though in all sincerity and let's all hope for whatever is truly best the country.

;-)

On the Achilles Heel..yes, it was the real sore spot for her how her Health Care efforts were thwarted by the the band of bandits in the republican party, who were beholden to the insurance companies.

It is precisely because of that , that if she got the power.. she would be bound and determined to make sure that that's the the very first thing she succesfully pushes through when she becomes president.

She more than anyone is committed to that effort.

Not only for the country but on a personal drive for success on it.

Now that is a motivator one can be assured of with her.

Because of that the bottom line is..she will get Health Care Reform achieved.

Can't be so sure about Obama on that issue at all

Any doubts about the Clintons?
by Woolley

Read this one. If after this you and Tempo and the rest of the Clinton backers think she is doing us a favor by staying in until the truly bitter end, then we must be in different parties because this is not the Democratic Party I want to belong to. Clinton is about power, hers and Bills, nothing else.

as they say on the old 'Family Feud" show when one of their idiotic relatives comes up with a lame response:

"Good Answer!"

but nice try.

just teasing you, Dubina..but ..really!

No, I was overseas when head line after head line for years was about infidelities, betrayal and yes, his penis. Now, I realize that part of her appeal to women is that she was above this but do you really think she stayed with Bill because of love? No. She stayed with him because of power, pure power.

As for her credentials, say Bill dies tomorrow. What makes her a better candidate again? Sorry but Hillary cannot even win a nomination that was in the bag. She is getting her ass kicked by a 46 year old newbie, a black man, a guy named Obama with a middle name of Hussein and a first name of Barack. I mean, if she can't beat him, how in the hell is she going to be a war hero?

Re: Any doubts about the Clintons?

Woolley, though I am aware that you would like to pretend that there were only two women in the entire world that want Hillary to win...but that is simply not the case.

I read the Huffington Post article about HRC going Nuclear and taking it to the Convention yestreday. many people view her desire to see Florida and Michigan be enfrancised as a noble one.

It's sad really and amazing that you think the democrats can win the presidency without these states.

If you believe that what Dean at DNC has done will not drive democrats from the party in droves if he does not find a way to make this fair for these two important states, you must surely be living in a dream world...no offense..but honestly.

Get ready for Margaret Thatcher's poll tax
by genedio

Thatcher, as I'm sure you're aware, had to resign over her poll tax, which was so unpopular, it was never instituted. Imagine, squeezing blood out of turnips?

Hillary's health care won't piss off the insurance companies as it will instead put the responsibility on the individual... to pay the insurance companies under threat of fines and garnishments. So you're poor, tough shit. Sure, she's got some tax credit worked in there (even McCain is offering $2,500). Think YOU could find health insurance for $2,500 Laurie? At your age?

That's what I meant by the Achille Heel. She flubbed it the first time because she didn't kiss up to the insurance companies enough. Second time's a charm.

So it really is all about Hill and Bill with you?

At least be honest about it, Woolley.

You are really upset about HRC staying with her husband after he cheated on her and you have played God and decided she has no real love for her husband at all simply because she remained married to him and also decided to run for president.

To you that is proof positive that she doesn't love her husband simply because she has ambitions.

gotcha.
