7000 TROOPS IS A DROP IN THE BUCKET

How many troops did the Soviet Union have in Afghanistan during the '80's? According to Wikipedia, the Soviets at their height had nearly 200,000 of their own men in the country, and had the help of 200,000 'Afghan communist regulars.' That makes nearly 400,000, no?

How many troops does NATO have in Afghanistan? A grand total of 65,000. Add a few more, take a few away, it doesn't matter one way or the other.

God Bless America.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe the troops we don't have, the taxpayers we don't have, the nurses we don't have, the border and security guards we don't have, the honest politicians, lawyers, etc we crave, the workers the immigrants have replaced, all the positions in our society that seem to be unfulfilled may be part of the 48 MILLION babies we have aborted and the CHILDREN that some of them would have had? Just something to chat about the next time you're standing around the water cooler.

Sweet segway...from troop shortage all the way an anti-abortion message. Another way to look at it, think of all the crime we wouldn't have if some more had been aborted, like OBL.

48 million? I would like to know how you came up with this number.

Your right Alan55. The US is in quite a conundrum due to our dangerously low population. We should outlaw abortion and mandate that every couple have at least 3 children.

Idiot.

And yet, Alan55...

Your parents had you. Darn.

Outlawing abortion does not mean that those kids would have volunteered for the military. You want to draft them or something?

Alan55: While you are totally off the subject, have you ever considered that bringing an unwanted child into the world is worse than the supposed 'sin' of aborting it?
Not a bad point.

You've actually stumbled across the reason I thought the Iraq invasion was a bad idea to begin with--when you're short on troops in one theater of operations, starting another is nuts.
