Why Do Cons Heart Hillary?
by Urquhart
+1 Reply

A serious question, the answer to which I know, but will not reveal without at least a couple of guesses. It's not purely tactical. There's something of a bond forming.

Hints: Toughness has something to do with it, but isn't the real cause. The enemy of my enemy plays in as well, but the enemy is not Obama.

Disturbing news re Hillary. Harold Ford this morning predicted that one candidate would win both Indiana and North Carolina. Rush this afternoon let slip that Hillary had received some internal polling data this weekend showing her losing Indiana. I, stringing along with the uncannily prophetic Terry McAuliffe, figured Hillary would blow out Indiana and come close in North Carolina. Generally because Obama always overpolls and has had a disastrous couple of weeks, while Hillary has hit her stride as a campaigner, and Bill is all over North Carolina like white on rice.

But those two statements today seemed ominous.

Why? Because they know they can beat her. They will use her like a two-bit whore to get out the rabid right vote. McCain is a weak candidate, this elections Bob Dole. They need Hillary badly. There will not be much of a crossover vote for Hillary but Obama is another story. They cannot beat him without being accused of racism so they will have to tread gingerly. Hillary though is familiar territory. They can rehash all the old material, add in some new stuff and really let her have it. Hillary's nomination will begin the end of the current crop of Democratic leaders. They will once again lose and earn the Defeatocrat moniker. Like I told Laurie, Hillary can't even beat Obama. What's up with that?
How convenient

that racism is an issue, but the sexism of likening Hillary to a "two-bit whore" is okey-dokey.

Sigh

we've come a short way, baby

Wrong, Wooley! Try Again

Nothing to do with relative electability. I think most of assume that Obama will be the nominee. And that if Hillary were nominated, that very process would destroy her own electability.
Re: How convenient

Its an expression. Nice try with the racism and sexism angle but if thats all Hillary supporters have in this race, they deserve to lose. The republicans cannot wait for Hillary to win, they can smell it.
Nothing to Do With Racism

nor sexism neither. Look to the hints. Who is the enemy?

They have waited for this day ever since she ran in NY
by MasterJay
this is their dream come true...simply,she is the most hated fiqure in American politics and she will bring out their base like nothing and nobody else will.

So you think connies love her because of who she is? A liberal Maggie? My lord, sometimes I just shake my head and wonder......BTW, I know plenty of conservatives, the first thing out of their mouths is a version of the following:

Hillary, I can't stand that bitch.

I heard that from women and men so don't start with the Gloria Steinem stuff again, it gets old.

Because they believe they can beat her.
by DragonTat2
And they might not be wrong about that.

Of course she will. Hell, look what she has done to our party. She is toast.

about the jews.

Truth?
by biteoftheweek

They know she will be tough on the enemies of this country and its allies.

True conservatives also know that she will do more to fix the economy than McCain who will continue the Bush policies of Borrow from China and spend like it never needs to be paid back.

Hillary was never a liberal. She was always a moderate Democrat. She is progressive enough to make better policies, but she is not going to turn the nation upside down.

Wrong, MJ! Not Electability
by Urquhart
Pay attention. We don't plan on her getting the nomination. If she does, you're right, that's fine with us. But that doesn't get to the real issue of why cons heart Hillary.
Wrong, DT! Again With Electability

How can I reach these keeds! As Cartman would say (as Mr. Cartmenez).

We don't expect Hillary to get the nod. Try again. Yeesh.

Wrong, Snolly! Not Policy
by Urquhart

I mean, sure, we all want to bomb Iran. Who doesn't? Been wanting to do that since the Carter Administration.

Not policy, not electoral calculus. There's an emotional connection. Find it.
