Oh, I quite disagree. At least both of the "cultures" you mentioned above are unabashedly materialistic and upfront about what they are marketing. Christian pop culture is all the more insidious in that it attempts to apply a patina of religiosity over crass commercialization and marketing.

Far be it from me, as I am most assuredly not Christian, to make a value judgment; however, I prefer that those who claim to be religious do so due to rigorous thought and devotion, not due to a "Jesus is My Homeboy" t-shirt and a Jars of Clay cd. Commercialization is an excuse for a faith weak on critical thought and long on questionable, secular values.

Proud was clearly referring to the part of the article that said Christian music was of wretched quality, and arguing that he/she sees bad quality in those other mediums. So your argument is off-topic.
