Dogs
by wuf0170

Around here, it's not plastic structures in the yards, it's dogs. Lots and lots of dogs. There are 24 dogs within a block of my home. Yappy, barking, endlessly annoying dogs. In a walk through my small town yesterday, I realized that very few people don't have at least one dog. Some have three.

What's with that? We had two dogs when I was growing up, but those were hunting dogs. The dogs I see today aren't working dogs, they're pets - sort of. These people, for whatever reason, decide to acquire these canine appurtenances to redneck life but don't seem to think the whole thing through. Oh, yeah, all is fine and dandy for a week or two, but then the puppy grows. Next thing you know, it's outside in the fenced yard or chained up and there is a tacky plastic dog igloo planted in the yard. The rest of the dog's life is pretty much that yard and a daily feeding. So now, the dogs owners have created and maintain a noise machine - and they never seem to notice the barking and whining.

Then, there are those people who walk their dogs through town. I suppose they don't feel like cleaning up in their yard, so their dogs leave their steaming calling cards in other people's yards.

All in all, I'd much rather see the plastic McPlaygrounds than more dogs.

I know the feeling.

For some reason, people think that just because a dog is little, they don't have to do any kind of training with it. We have several little dogs in our neighborhood who are completely untrained and just bark constantly.
