Love your neighbor......
by badbuddha

Help the poor, Forgive your enemies! Whatever happened to these simple truths? These are the driving concepts of many of the world's religions and probably the least practiced.....especially the forgiveness part.

Art is always in the eye of the beholder and up to the individual to make the decision on what is art. Some may even say that art loses some of its' intinsic value once a price tag is put upon it.

People of faith often fall into the ego trip/trap of feeling persecuted. Don't, it steers you way off course. Just love your neighbor, help the poor and forgive your enemies (all of them) and you will thrive in your chosen spiritual path.

The phrase "intrinsic value" doesn't even make sense - Dictionary.com uses the sentence, "the intrinsic value of a gold ring," as an example of the definition of "intrinsic." Yet, if I am hungry, gold has no value whatsoever. Gold is simply a cold, lifeless metal, until someone, (in the case of gold, a lot of "someones"), decides it has value.

Art is not defined by value. Art is an individual expression, which has no relevance to anyone, until - as you say - they decide it is relevant. I take photographs, (published), and am a writer, (published), simply because they facilitate a expression of myself. In other words, art is art, whether, (or even if), it is bought or sold is completely irrelevant.
