Or We Could Compare Obama To Hitler
by traydeuce

Wallace wasn't wrong about everything. Do you object to anything about the quote itself? Because, if not, what's your point? You could find Hitler quotes that sound like things Obama's said.* Although that would show you something, namely that Obama's rhetoric is so vague and meaningless that even a Nazi could agree with it.

* For example:

With profound distress millions of the best German men and women from all walks of life have seen the unity of the nation vanishing away, dissolving in a confusion of political and personal opinions, economic interests, and ideological differences. [Take out the word German and this is basically the core theme of Obama's stump speech.]

pinhead, pseudo intellectual game of quotation matching itself that is at fault here because you can find a negative or a positive match for anyone that is in the habit of opining.

So Noah matched up Bill Clinton with Wallace. Obama could probably be matched up with Hitler and Hillary with Mussolini if a person wanted to put all that much effort into the process. None of which proves a damn thing except that coincidence happens.

G.W. Bush [or his speech writers] has sometimes filed the serial numbers off bits and pieces of FDR and Winston Churchill speeches and I trust that no one is going to confuse the pathetic shrub with either one of those great leaders.

It's a damn silly game and it's a pathetic reality that it pretty much represents the height of intellectualism for some of our Slate political writers. I guess that for them it beats thinking or maintaining the fiction that they are bias-neutral.

Well it's sort of an ironic quote anyway, considering it's from a guy who thought he should be able to get away with getting a hummer in the Oval Office and then lying under oath.

On the other hand, Obama has won most of the southern states, and will win another one today, so maybe he's on to something.
