Tax cuts raise revenue

As everyone knows, if you cut taxes you raise revenue. Therefore if you cut them to zero then tax revenues will skyrocket and pay for themselves at least two times over. Genius! And McCain says he doesn't know the economy.

Happy driving everyone.

Yessir,

They DO raise revenue, because they increase the "size of the pie." If you disagree, then please explain to me how raising taxes and other costs, especially on businesses will help them a) hire more people b) lower costs and prices and c) grow the economy.

It sounds oh-so-wonderful to "punish" the oil companies by raising their windfall profits tax...please explain how this will lower the price of gas/diesel at the pump.

Short version: Redistribution of wealth doesn't work...period. Incentives to help individuals and groups to get to where they wish to be, do work.

I've worked very hard to get to where I am in life...and yes, I am probably better off than I deserve considering the choices I've made when I was younger. I don't consider myself "rich," but I am blessed. I am much better off than some folks.

No one however (besides my wife) has the right to tell me what I "need," and further, to confiscate (via taxation) the "excess."

COL M

Yeah, tell that to people who live on Social Security. Republican fantasies of repealing the New Deal are doomed to failure at the ballot box. Get used to it.

Obama 08!
