The Empress has no Clothes

I'd suggest that the fairy tale parallel here is pretty apt: when are the pundits going to start listening to common sense--Hillary can't win either the nomination or the election, and she knows she can't win?

What's ethically indefensible about Clinton's current m.o. is her obvious vindictive determination that since she won't be nominated, she'll ruin Obama's chance to win the general election by fair means or foul (by golly!) --and spend the next thirty years telling everyone "I told you he couldn't win--you should have elected ME."

That is the naked ambition of the empress in this scenario. Fairy princess she aint.

Obama supporters really believe he's fragile, and unable to withstand scrutiny. Hope is fleeting.

Actually, what I wrote was that Hillary is clearly determined to ruin Obama's chances in the general election--not that she will succeed in doing so. I want a Dem to win the general election. As a pragmatist, I'm betting on Obama for that, not Clinton. Cheers.

I think Hillary has turned into Napoleon. But a prescient Napoleon who knows that he's heading to Waterloo.

But doesn't care.

What she does to her own credibility atc. is none of my business. But honestly, she deserves a smack in the forehead for what she's doing to polarize the Democratic party.

Hillary can't win either the nomination or the election, and she knows she can't win?

Clearly, no one told the voters in PA. LOL

Re: The Empress has no Clothes

That would be the exact problem..

The media and Ms. Clinton have continued, for their various reasons, to imply that this is a super close race. It isn't.It hasn't been in quite some time.

Evidence Hillary claims to have won Texas...but Obama garnered more delegates..so she actually LOST TEXAS.

And now all those PA swing voters will feel cheated and defeated when Hillary loses the nomination..as she and the media both knew she would going into Pennsylvania.

Hillary Clinton's loss in Guam won't go unnoticed in IN and NC. She can't lose her way to the nomination.

Clearly, the media doesn't really get to decide now, do they. If only Obama could run unopposed. :D

All politicians reek of naked ambition or they wouldn't run for office. We voters are merely distant observers of their duplicities.
It's time voters decide which candidate is the least likely to cause harm to our Nation and move forward towards the Fall election. If anti-Hillary politicians force Obama down our throats because they carry grudges against the Clintons, I'll vote McCain.

"If anti-Hillary politicians force Obama down our throats..."

Excuse me? What have the last four months of primaries and caucuses been about? The DNC set the nomination process up so that the will of the people is expressed through pledged delegates. Show me any document which shows someone complaining about the unfairness of this before the Iowa caucus.

Like it or not, Barack Obama is winning the race for pledged delegates by a comfortable margin. If the superdelegates choose to ratify the will of the people, that will not be forcing Obama down anybody's throat.

You're right !! The media does not decide this contest and neither should the Superdelegates. The voters should decide who the nominee will be and they have voted for Barack Obama. This article is right. The math does not lie.

I lived in Washington, DC during the Clinton administration & remember "it depends on what the meaning of is, is". I also have a husband who will be returning to Iraq in a few months. I think I have a right to be Anti-Clinton when Hillary didn't even bother to read the NIE report before voting for the Iraq War.

No one is shoving anyone down your throat. We simply are casting our votes as we see fit & supporting our candidate. If the Superdelegates overturn the outcome of all these primaries and caucases and give the nomination to Hillary Clinton, I would call that shoving a candidate down someone's throat.

Re: The Empress has no Clothes

Obama's ahead by the slimmest of margins, and he peaked early. Now that voters have gotten to know him better, he's struggling. Clinton's won 5 of the last 6 contests. I expect she'll show strength tomorrow as well. We'll see soon enough whether the majority of the party (including the voters in FL) will be force fed.
Re: The Empress has no Clothes

"Clinton's won 5 of the last 6 contests."

Of the last 7 contests (not counting Guam) Barack Obama has won more delegates in 4 of them. That's MS, WY, VT and TX for Obama and PA, RI and OH for Hillary Clinton.

Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts.

The comment "Now that the voters have gotten to know him better, he's struggling" is really the crux of the matter. Have voters really come to know Obama or even Clinton better over the past month or so? Or has the media decided to keep this attention-grabbing wrestling match going till the bitter end by manufacturing non-issues that get us no closer to knowing our candidates or reaching resolution? I believe this was part of the substantive sub-text of the original article. And the point was well made.
