Hillary As Fairy Tale
by Jabli Izvesti
It is not fair to treat Hillary's campaign effort as a fairy tale unless all that mythology generated around Obama is also regarded as something equally unrealistic.

As I said in another thread, the public wants a dream, not a president. The public gets an initial "high" in its belief and excitement over change. Then, just like a credit-card high, the public will be paying for it for the next four years.

ITo the BO True Believers Hillary is evil, terrible and may in fact, be Satan's sister (Satan of course, is Dick Cheney) And Barack is "a good and decent man" just trying to change the world being maligned and dissed by The Clintons.

Horsefeathers.

I believe Barack Obama is an extraordinary and talented "POLITICIAN" and he has a bright future win or lose this time. I also believe Hillary Clinton is an extraordinarily gifted politician with real grit, tenacity and the experience the position requires. Moreover, she can win in the general and I do not believe Barack can.

I will actively support either against a third Bush term. But part of the Obama fatigue just now is the constant irrational whining mostly by Obama's enthusiastic supporters that Hillary should just step aside and let Barack have it "for the good of the party".

Please don't forget why we are so energized. This is not about either person or identity politics or whatever "en vogue" psychobabble is used by the media to explain why they always get it wrong this cycle. Further, this isn't the student council. Democrats should not be nearly as interested in "sending a message" by nominating Barack as a symbol as they should be looking at the best and tested winning strategy. For one, I am interested in clearing the GOP out of the House, Senate and The White House November 5th. The Electoral College doesn't add up to Obama winning and that would be a disgraceful waste of a once in 50 year opportunity to regain a solid working majority with an executive that works with the Congress for change.

This ain't Oprah! We need to win and if you want that as well, then Hillary is your girl.

If Obama and Clinton were on opposite sides, Clinton people would be jeering Obama for staying in the race, not just suggesting he should drop out for the good of the party. While I think it's silly for Clinton to stay in at this point, it's her choice. Also, you'd be wise to not call it "whining" when it makes sense. Not to mention there was all that "whining" when the media was beating up on Clinton. I think there were legitimate complaints in that department, but fair's fair. If Obama supporters are whining, then Clinton supporters were whining much louder.

As for the general election, I can understand an argument suggesting ways in which McCain might beat Obama, but you've got your head... somewhere, if you think that Obama doesn't stand a chance, or even if you think McCain has anything approaching a better than even chance against Obama. Virginia may very well go blue in 08, but most likely only if that blue is Obama.

Here's a suggestion: If you want Hillary Clinton to win, you might consider not referring to her as a girl.

Obama 08!

Hillary's campaign is a fairytale because the math shows she can not win the nomination without the Suerpdelegates going against the individual voters. Those are the cold, hard facts.

You think Barack Obama's campaign is a fairytale becuase you support Hillary Clinton and personally don't believe Barack Obama. That is your individual belief & you have every right to it. However, don't try to equate the two arguments.

The only reason Hillary Clinton should step aside (& should have done so earlier) is that the math shows she can not win without the Superdelegates overturning the primary & caucas results. If the Supers were to do that think how that would affect the general election. I don't think your "girl" will be so electable then.

PS: I didn't see Hillary Clinton show much grit or tenacity when she rolled over and voted for the Iraq resolution, not even bothering to read the NIE report first. Our soldiers are the ones paying for her lack of courage then.

The only time I see Hillary really fighting is when she is fighting for herself and her campaign. We need a politican who will fight for all of us and this country. That is Barack Obama !!!

Yes, Let us not try to get a better politician in the White House. Let's all just go safe and vote in Hillary Clinton. (Although I don't think that is safe). We may not get what we want but at least it is familiar.

Let's continue to talk about how we hate the way Washington works with it's dirty politics and special interests and then vote for the person who uses those dirty politics and thinks lobbists represent everyday people.

It's a good thing the Founding Fathers didn't think that way or we'd still be a territory of Great Britain.
