So You Want to be a Scientologist
by Gaffer

Bonnie Goldstein, the author of this article is biased and anything but an investigative journalist. You can always tell when the first sentence reads, "...founded by former science fiction writer, L Ron Hubbard." Ron earned enough to purchase the first Church properties plus afford the time for research by writing sci-fi about 12 hours each week. There's no mystery about this.

I've been a Scientologist since 1975 and simply put, it saved my life. My "best" friends were sure that I was given 'truth serum at meetings" and that "Scientology was a front for a drug-running ring." After all, they read it in the most reputable magazines of the day. Now there's the internet and "investigative journalists."

If you observed for even a day, the conditions we see when giving simple stress tests, you'd be shocked. If you saw how simple and effective the e-meter is in discovering these conditions, you'd smile. Are there occasional casualties? You bet, but you'll never see exactly why on the internet or in your local paper. What you are seeing is a smokescreen to distract you from what is really going on.

Your religion asks that you act responsibly and we respect that immensely. But there are others among you who would have you believe that your indiscretions are biological. So the madness not only continues, it is fueled.

Among non-Scientologists, drugs 50% to 75%, spousal abuse including physical 35%, sexual perversion including pedophilia 25%...

Among Scientologists, drugs 0%, spousal abuse 3% and improving, sexual perversion 1% and improving...

You do the math. We're not perfect, just getting there. We are tough and we expect a lot. But in the end, it's your choice.

Well, there is a story that L Ron scored 100% in the drugs and perversion department but people believe whatever they want. I like believing that he was just a man with a lot of issues but figured out how to get money the PT Barnum way and was really good at it. And you gotta love the whole anti-psychiatry thing. I mean, they still believe in psychiatry and practice it under a different name. But the tax advantages of being a church eliminates all that medical insurance junk.

Lots of people have had their lives "saved" by religon but scientology needs to get to the masses. The Christians used just pure fear to get money. Scientology isn't scary enough to REALLY get the big bucks. The peasants aren't as illiterate and docile as they were in the dark ages.

All in all though, I must agree. As a cult, they are approaching perfection. Can't hold a candle to the Catholics but it's early. I do like that they only go where the money is. That's a good step. No sense wasting time converting heathens in the third world... well not yet.

It'll be fun to see how it plays out over the millenia.

Wow, you are just too smart!

I'll just say it again. If you had even an ounce of courage (enough to pick up the cans), I know we would find what black morrass you speak from. The fear of discovery drives so many people into a terror condition. For the first time in human history, we understand that.

You've been a Scientologist since 1975? Wow, that's a long time ago. Then, would you mind if I asked you about the current situation and some other stuff, that is... unless you are unable to due to the contract?

Since you were in CoS since 1975, let's start there.... with "Snow White" and "Freakout". What are your thoughts about these two "operations" that Scientology had attempted but ultimately failed? (I am sorry if I'm being disrespectful, but I like to know about both sides of the conflict, meaning I have listened to Anonymous for while, but would now like to listen from someone that's actually in the CoS.)

Some more questions are...

Why are Scientologists forced to stay away from non-Scientologist friends and family, hence the Disconnection policy?

What are your thoughts about Lisa McPherson?

What are your thoughts about Anonymous and Chanology?

Despite the fact that all human beings are given the right to free speech and free thought, do you guys really think what Anonymous is doing is wrong?

Sorry, the Mathison e-meter is a quack medical device that, at best, measures how well you're holding two pieces of metal. It's junk science -- actually, it's just JUNK.
