Why does John Dickerson dislike Biden?
by MooniniteTwo

Or maybe he doesn't dislike him, but he makes fun of him often on the Gabfest podcast (and I confess, it's really funny).

But I don't understand why Biden's not taken more seriously. He doesn't have the most attractive demeanor --- the way he squints when he answers a question reminds me of David Putty from Seinfeld --- but I'm typically impressed by his thoughtful answers to questions, even when I'm not sure whether I agree, because he doesn't sound like he's walking on eggshells, being purposefully vague, or oversimplifying for the sake of a soundbyte, etc. This makes it more challenging to get simple and safe message across to John Q. Public maybe, but why doesn't he get more love from the press, who I would hope, can identify a straight talker when they hear one?

Sorry to move discussion off McCain, but since a lot of posters here cited Biden as their favorite, I though it was a good opportunity to ask the question, which has been nipping at me. I don't know much about him (Biden) but he seems to answer questions in a way none of the other candidates do, which should be worth a few points.

I don't dislike Biden though I do make fun of his extraordinary long windy speaking style. I spoke favorably of him here:

I sat in a QA session that lasted 3 or 4 hours with Senator Biden. There were about 40 people in the room, as well as some reporters. I could see how Biden could make some people think him to be windy. He tended to offer a bit more information than he needed to and I wasn't sure if that might not be taken as an attempt to impress us. As I listened to him I could also understand that it might be his way of dealing with being very nervous about being in front of a crowd. I do public speaking and find myself drawing out some parts of my talk while I'm trying to figure out where to go next....

I also found his understanding of international affairs and national interests to be far preferrable to the current occupant of the White House.

He's a Fellow-Travelling, very Useful Idiot. That's why I don't like him.

The only demoncrap I know of worth the powder it would take to blow him to hell is Joe Liebermann.

Having read a few of your posts, I must say that I am impressed by the fact that you were actually able to complete the process of signing up for an account.

Or did you make your kid sister do it for you?

Sorry, J.D., didn't mean to place opinions in your mouth, and actually, I now remember reading your favorable blurb after that debate, which (ironically, given my initial question) probably played a part in forming my own positive impression.
