This entire article is a waste of time, focus and energy. Even if she did have a slip of the tongue and mistakenly leave off the "D" in "blessed", clearly that is not what she meant. Clearly should would never intend to say that in public, even if she meant it. And a dropped consonant is not grounds for claims of a "Freudian Slip".

How ridiculous -- and that it appeared on the front page of Slate! There is so little news that a slip of the tongue is front page fodder.

Tomorrow's headline: "BABY SAYS, 'SHE SHOO SHIT GAH,' SLATE STAFF CALL CHILD SERVICES."

A slip of the tongue huh? And you and all the reporters in la-la land think it shouldn't matter? Well welcome to what they've put Obama through for weeks, even reporting on all the help Clinton's been to do so.

Truth is Hill should have closed this out long ago. She had all the money, was high in all the polls, was married to an ex-president (which by the way is the only reason we are having this conversation for if she was a Smith or Jones we wouldn't be talking about her), and had name recognition (see parentheses). So then what is her problem? She's dishonest, manipulative, and has managed a disgraceful campaign, wasted money, didn't plan beyond Super Tuesday and cares about no one but herself. The fact that anyone supports her in view of all this magnificant country's problems shock me. But, then again, 28% of the population thinks Bushie is doing a good job. Amazing.

What she meant was: God bless us, we work hard, we pay our taxes, we rich people need to do the right thing and be leaders in our land -- not a bad sentiment.

All that "closing" mumbo jumbo has nothing to do with the topic at hand. And you cannot compare a supposedly missing sibilant "d" to Obama saying, "And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with what he said, but his statement was very clear -- there is no interpretation needed. He said it straight out. This crap about Clinton saying, "God Bless the Rich" is infantile squandering of people salivating for something to pin on her. The fact is, even if she slipped off the "d", she did not mean "god bless the rich", and just as equally, she didn't say it.

But there isn't anything wrong with what she said! I'm not saying it either.

Just like the word "elitist" isn't something all that foreign to ANYONE in a position of power.

What is odd is after all this time of running on experience at the highest level of government she is trying to look like 'one of the boys' or something. Come on - it's just stupid.

In an economy like this only someone with enough money and power CAN run. It is a litmus test of the first degree. It's not a test that says someone is BETTER than another (social elitism) its just a statement of fact that a perfectly terrifically qualified car mechanic isn't going to be able to make it a Presidential election as the candidate. It's no slam to the car mechanic OR the candidate.

Either one; "God bless us", or "God blessed us" seems pretty insensitive (and elitist) to me. If God blessed Hillary and Bill with $100 mil, does that mean that those who are struggling financially are on God's s*&^ list? Sounds v. Republican. God loves the rich and merely tolerates everyone else.

God blessed us with money is offensive, but God blessed us with childen is acceptable?

It's a turn of phrase. Get over it.

This whole thing isn't about ME getting over it -- it's about how NEVER can a Clinton say "oops" -- as in "oops, that came out wrong" ... not even as in "oops, I made a mistake"

no, it has to be denial, reversal, spin or crying foul.... Bill did it while in office for 8 years and Hillary has done it this whole campaign... I believe the word I'm grasping for is prevarication.

And Mike, THAT is why she never had my support. Not from day one. Not because of her female-ness, not because I drank some kool-aid. But because THAT is what the Clintons stand for.

And that is something I won't just "get over."

Madam Defarge, even though I am a Clintonite I still like your post. Yes it is funny too. Even saying "God blessed us" is not a nice thing to say. She should have said that her and O'Reilly have been lucky. Maybe she does not believe that luck was a factor or maybe she is just too pooped from trying to walk on that constant thin ice where one wrong inflection can ruin things for her and her supporters. By the way a couple of months ago I was watching Oprah when a guest referred to their. hers and the guests, luck and Oprah came back with "I don't believe in luck". In other words she is an egotist.

Have you ever noticed how those who don't believe in luck, are usually the lucky ones? Hillary showed a lack of humility with her remark. Anyone who is born with a good mind, and who was raised in reasonable environment, is lucky. Talent and brains are a gift, as Hillary's siblings will no doubt confirm.
