Gourmand
by tgideon

Would someone please, please, please let the headline writers at Slate know that "gourmand" is NOT a synonym for gourmet? Gourmand is a synonym for "glutton," as we all, well, except for Slate, learned in high school.

Of course the parent corporation's editors (WaPo) don't know the difference either.

From the ingredient list, it sounds like he actually isn't doing much cooking. Instead he seems to just be a glutton of pricey cheese and crackers and tuna casserole.

Thanks, tgideon. I'm glad I'm not the only one who cringed at that.

I was just going to write the same thing. Thanks for this. It's not just the headline writer though - the same blatant error occurs in the article copy too.

But they really sound alike!

Can't talk now: it's too noisome around here.
