Obama and Gas Tax Holiday
by Yooper

I agree with Sen. Obama that the gas tax holiday is pandering of the worst kind. I think he should explicitly point out that here is a tough decision he was faced with, and he took a stand that may be unpopular, while the other two candidates took the easy way out.

I agree with you. Obama is talking sense here. The only problem is that pandering of this kind wins elections.

In all fairness, there are many many hard-working people out there struggling. Even though this will only put 30 bucks or so back in their pockets over the course of the summer, what they hear is 30 bucks is 30 bucks I didn't have before.

When your'e trying to decide wether to put five bucks in the tank, buy a gallon of milk or buy your kid's medicine...it's not tough to understand why this pandering will gain traction. And ofcourse with the very demographic Obama has trouble with right now. It's smart strategy in the opposing campaigns.

Actually, I think people are smart enough to realize that 18.5 cents doesn't really make a dent in $4.00 gas.

Not only that, but the price will stay high because there are supply issues. Refineries and oil companies will reap the benefit.
