Just because there aren't a lot of documented cases of conviction, it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. And, how hard would it be to catch the person? You'd have to have a perfect storm of the person coming in and the poll worker actually knowing the individual in order to catch him/her trying to vote as someone else.

Also, just because something hasn't happened doesn't mean there shouldn't be a law addressing the issue.

There IS a law addressing the issue, dumbass. Voter fraud has always been a crime. What there should not be, and has not been until recently, is a law harassing millions of people in order to prevent a crime that does not occur.

So, I take it, dumbass (since we are being so friendly with eachother) that you are not in favor of things like hate crime laws, escalator charges on crimes committed with guns, or additional gun restriction laws since the original crimes are all covered by existing legislation?

Anyway, your "argument" is flawed anyway. The picture ID is aimed at prevention of voter fraud, whereas the laws you cite are only aimed at punishment for voter fraud, which (as I addressed in my original post) is almost impossible to catch and convict on.

Or, since we have laws making hijacking illegal, do we not need to "harass" millions of people getting on an airplane by searching their persons and their bags for weapons, and making attempted carrying of weapons onto an aircraft a felony?

If the idea is to prevent voter fraud, it fails. Since it will still be entirely possible to vote through absentee ballots without ID. Which makes the whole law a really stupid idea.

Voter ID is not "harassment". You have to have an ID already to function. Hillary has a massive vote fraud operation in place right now. We have so much vote fraud in inner cities and Indian reservations that international elections observers refuse to certify our elections.

We actually do harass people at airports for a crime that does not occur - because it is being prevented. How much effort does it take to pull your license out of your wallet? If you are too lazy to do that you shouldn't be voting anyway.

I know many people who function just fine without ID. The only things you need ID for on a regular basis are driving and buying alcohol. If you don't drive or drink, then you wouldn't need it. I can't remember the last time I pulled out my ID for anyone.

And why not just require a birth certificate and proof of residency. That's all you need to get an ID. Why bother adding an extra expense and an extra trip in order to vote?

And this won't stop fraud. People who want to commit fraud will either get a fake ID, or they'll vote absentee. This law adds a burden on voters while not being able to prevent anything.
