You forgot to note the trees cut down

I'm very surprised the Lantern forgot to mention that those new trees that are cut to make paper used to be sequestering CO2 and helping decrease global warming. Making paper from new trees is worse for the environment because it both contributes to CO2 production and gets rid of our only source of CO2 sequestration. Recycling the paper is definitely better.

"New" trees aren't cut down. Generally (and there's a devil lurking in these details) trees are harvested at maturity. Forests have a natural cycle that is often determined by fire (a mass release of carbon dioxide). Extending the carbon storage period in forests with short cycles (such as interior forests) requires unnatural forms of harvesting and preservation.
