Obama Should Quit?
by Daniel8
This is a shameful article. The article basically reads I don't want Hilary to be president but if she is going to put up such a fight why not Back down Obama and run in a later election(s). Are you kidding me? She is not the right person for the job. She cares more about the power of the office than the people she would be serving and she is a complete hypocrite. Not to mention the fact that you don't bow down to someone just because they refuse to back down themselves. It should be noted that I am not saying people who run for president don't want the power of the office. What I meant by the comment is that Hillary wants to be the first woman president and also she is someone who cares more about the control than doing the right thing as noted in the article I am responding to where the author says if she cared about the party and the people should would have bowed out already. Of course Obama would make history as the first black president as well. But when you listen to him speak, there isn't arrogance there. He wants to help this country and do what he can to make a difference in the world for the better. What we don't need right now is people giving up on the their futures and the future of this country by settling for a candidate who isn't the best one and furthermore, asking the candidate who is, to drop out. I am not comparing HRC to this next quote but the idea still applies. Evil thrives when good people do nothing. Put into this context bad politicians and people who have no business being political leaders thrive when the citizens of this country and other countries allow them to. The best example I can think of is George Bush Jr. If the founding fathers were alive today, George Bush Jr. would not be president anymore. He should be tried for war crimes along with a lot of the people who helped him escalate the already terrifying conditions in many parts of the world by pursuing the war in Iraq. Just because he holds a public office doesn't mean he can't be a terrorist. Terrorism takes many forms and it's time we as a country stand up PEACEFULLY! (and I really emphasize peacefully) and not tolerate it anymore! I know many people will read the last couple of statements I have made and think me un-American but, we don't have a responsibility to our President, he has a responsibility to us. We have a responsibility to our country and the ideals by which our country was founded ie, separation of church and state, no illegal wire tapes, no discrimination against Gays, and so on and so forth. It is absolutely disgusting that we tolerate such things. Mike Huckabee refused to allow a 15 year old rape victim who has down syndrome the right to have an abortion in his state where current law mandates that it is legal for her to do so if she so chooses. I know this is way off topic from how I started out but, if you want to call yourself a true American than people who believe in Pro-choice have a right to do so and a right to practice such a belief. Mike Huckabee is only a small part of a big problem. There are always going to be people saying that they know better than you do on how you should govern you're own life. It's crap. People are scared and frightened and when people get scared and frightened they try to control as many things as they can so they can feel less scared and less frightened. But the bottom line is this country was founded under the belief that Church and state not only should but MUST be separate. And so long as our actions don't harm or intend harm upon another than no one not even the President has the right to stop us from free speech or the practices of our daily lives. Now there are those that claim abortions end lives. And they are entitled to their opinions 100%. But there comes a point where you have to look at this issue biologically. What makes us human is our ability to reason and be conscience of the world around us, to govern our own bodies and to have have the ability to choose cognitively and emotionally in which direction our lives will proceed. The most one can say about a human fetas is that it has this potential only and not the ability. now if one doesn't want to agree to that because he or she has some fantasy about the abilities of said fetas than one needs to evaluate ones own cognitive and deductive capabilities. Moreover, if one wants to call him or herself true Americans he or she must accept that there are those who disagree with him or her and that those who do disagree have the right to disagree and moreover, the right to have an abortion. if you don't agree with a persons choice, than don't associate with that person. Bottom line, if you don't want an abortion don't get one. But don't intrude in someone else's' affairs when they don't solicit your advice in the first place and when you don't have to live their life. It is easy to make a decision for someone else because when you go home you don't have to live with wrong decision. Finally, the whole argument against Gay marriage is illogical and quite frankly nothing more than a rhetoric of discrimination. Bush claims it violates the "sanctity of marriage" when the divorce rate for heterosexual couples a few years ago was topping off at 60% or even a little higher. Come on, wake up and smell what he and others like him are shoveling. In a world filled with such chaos and religious extremism, from Islamic terrorists blowing themselves and others up, to the illegal and inhumane war in Iraq, should we will be focusing on two people who love each other and want to make a life long commitment to one another? That is what you should think about when you think about "sanctity of marriage". It is hard for me to swallow that Bush cares about the "sanctity of marriage" when he has no problem violating the sanctity of life by forcing soldiers into a civil war of another country. In the end when it comes to most of the issues I have covered, one conclusion sticks out in my mind more than any other. We know right from wrong. It isn't that we don't understand it, it isn't that we are swayed to see the validity of arguments for war or anti-abortion laws, or rhetoric that claims that gay marriage violates the so-called sanctity of such unions. It is that we are indifferent. Now everyone has the right to be indifferent if they want to be but you can't then get upset when it bites you on the proverbial behind. If you care about America...strike that, if you care about life at all, that stand up against injustice everywhere and anywhere you encounter it. Don't wait for someone else to stand up for you. And don't claim that you didn't know better when the truth is, you were either too scared to do what was right or you felt it was too much of an imposition for you to do anything at all.

We live in a different time than we did during World War II. Though the times have changed, evil has not. You want to know why hitler was successful in wiping out six million Jews and 12 million people? We let him. The world sat back, and let him do it. I realize he is an extreme example to be using here and I am in no way comparing our current leader or those who are running for office now to hitler. But my point is two fold. Our problem isn't just with the leaders of this country. It is for example with the leader of Iran. Or any group who's single minded aim is to destroy what is good and what is right. Fight injustice anywhere and everywhere you encounter it, home or abroad. Isn't it time to but the guns down? Isn't it time to turn to a new season in our evolution and to start healing the wounds of our past; to stop picking at the scabs? I leave it up to you to answer that for yourself and I have faith that not when the time comes because it is already here, that we will unite in peace and hope, love and tolerance, as well as forgiveness for all people from all different walks of life...at home and abroad.

Daniel8 types a lot because he has thoughts he wants to express. He's not just copying and pasting the same half-witted meme he heard on some right-wing radio show over and over again in every thread on the board like you are, hellos.

Why do you say Wright is a friend of the Clintons?

Umm... because he was their invited guest when they were in the White House.

<link>

It just goes to show that you shouldn't believe all the crap spewed by the media. It's far easier for them to play "gotcha" soundbites ad nauseam than to explain why Rev. Wright is on good terms with the Clintons.

Umm... because he was their invited guest when they were in the White House.

The Clintons had many invited guest at that prayer breakfast and many pictures were taken... that didn't make Wright a personal friend, - -only an invited guest. I had already seen the picture ..BTW.

While in the WH there were probably thousands of pictures made of the Clintons with many individuals from all walks of life. That picture proves nothing.

<Whirrr> That's the sound of spinning. Well, spin it any way you want. The picture speaks for itself. Worth a thousand words, you might say.
