The bus was an hour ago...

How could that entire article have been written without a single mention of the most obvious reason for these colaberations? Take one part scarey black guy, mix with equal part white frat boy, and you get a whole new market of upper-middle class white kids who otherwise aren't that interested in an old gangsta rapper like Dre, or a racist like West.

Kanye West is a racist? How so? Shouldn't someone have told Chris Martin and Adam Levine that Kanye was a racist before they recorded songs with him?

"President Bush hates black people". Only a racist would say some crap like that when there were hundreds of poor white families throughout the South in the exact same situation as the blacks Kanye was so interested in.

From Dictionary.com

racĀ·ism

1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. 2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination. 3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

From Kanye West: "President Bush hates black people". Actually the quote was, "George Bush doesn't care about black people"

Hmmm . . . let's see here . . . Does "George Bush doesn't care about black people" show a belief of Kanye West that inherent differences among black and white people determine cultural or individual achievement or that black people are superior or that black people should rule others?

Does the statment, "George Bush doesn't care about black people," display hatred or intolerence of white people on the whole?

No and No.

Thanks for playing. We have some lovely parting gifts for you while you're on your way out.

I do think that it was intolerant and devisive and racist. I believe that West and many like him take an black-centric view of all issues, putting race before all other considerations. Anyone who can screw a class issue (thousands of poor people in the South abandoned by their government in their time of need) into a race issue is, by my definition, a racist.

The definition you cited is vague and incomplete. For instance: "usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others." Usually is a hedge, which creates a definition in which less common ideas (or ideas not commonly considered racist) can still be racist. There is nothing in that definition that precludes one's race-centric views from being racist.

To be honest, I wouldn't give a damn if the good people at Dictionary.com defined red as blue. Racism is a concept, they can't define a concept neatly; which is why they had to hedge their definition in the first place.

Keep your parting gifts for someone you can actually keep up with.

This is funny. So you think the dictionary definition of racism is vague and incomplete, and now your made up out of the crack of your butt definition is better . . . since it suits your purposes.

But let's, for the sake of humor, look at your butt crack definition of racism for a second:

"There is nothing in that definition that precludes one's race-centric views from being racist"

So, in your feeble mind, people are racist simply by having a view about race? Anyone who looks at an issue from the perspective of a race is racist? Kanye West is racist because he said President Bush doesn't care about Black people, in your mind, but he wouldn't have been racist if he simply hadn't mentioned Black people?

If I say that a public figure doesn't care about a race of people that, to you, makes me a racist? What kind of topsy turvey nonsense is that?

Also, your comment about the definition of racism being inadequate because of the word "usually" is pretty silly. You think it would be a better definition if it said, "racism ALWAYS involves the idea that one's own race is superior"???

With all due respect to people with Down's Syndrome, you're retarded.

First of all, your put-downs are trite and boring. You should either be original, or be respectful.

I've stated, quite clearly, that someone with a race-centric view of issues is a racist. I'm not sure how I can state more clearly what "centric" means. If one is ego-centric, then they put themselves in the center of everything, even when they are not the central figure. If one is race-centric, then they turn non-race issues in to racial issues. A black person with a race-centric view is just as racist as a race-centric white person who blames blacks or Mexicans for a lack of good jobs. It's an overly simplistic world-view brought on by ignorance of the deeper problems in a system that are actually at fault.

The word Define comes from a combination of Latin words, "de" which means "completely", and "finis" which means "end". The "definition" that you give does not completely end the description of what a racist is. For instance, it completely ignores the existence of self-hating people which have been shown to exist by studies such as the Implicit Association Test at the University of Washington.

I'll give you the last word.

Thanks for the last word(s).

Your definition of racism is pretty limited. By your definition ("someone with a race centric view of issues is racist") anyone who studies race would be a racist.

I'll stick to the dictionary definition thanks. And thanks again for the last word, it really brightens my day when I get the last shot in.
