Growing Chicken? Ridiculous!
by cmarinelli

This has to be the most ridiculous concept that I have ever heard. Growing meat in labs for the benefit of vegetarians?!? That makes absolutely no sense. If you were a true vegetarian then you wouldn’t like the taste of meat no matter what form it comes in. A chicken like any other creature on this earth is designed with the intention of serving man. Higher up on the hierarchy of life is man who is made to serve God, where man is made to dominate God’s other creatures. Although I agree that no animal should be grown, exploited or callously executed in any inhumane way, we have to also consider that we are omnivores. For the uninformed, omnivores are created to consume both animals and plants. In my opinion, the question does not pertain to the consuming of animals but how they are grown and executed for this purpose.

So, you claim that animals are here to serve us, so it makes sense that we should eat them. You also claim that we are here to serve god. Does that make it alright for him to eat us? Also, If you were a true spiritual being, you might have compassion for all of the "lesser" beings that you find so delicious. There are alternatives amongst the variety of creatures (plant/animal/fungal) on this earth to provide all the nutrient man needs to survive without the destruction of animals. True vegetarians don't stop eating meat because they dislike the taste. That is what I would call superficial, much like your christianity.

The Earth Does Not Belong To Man
by LeRoy_Was_Here

cmarinellis opines: A chicken like any other creature on this earth is designed with the intention of serving man. Higher up on the hierarchy of life is man who is made to serve God, where man is made to dominate God’s other creatures.

LeRoy: Two quotes that you NEED to ponder:

Chief Seattle: The Earth does not belong to Man. Man belongs to the Earth.

Lynn White Jr. (noted economic historian and perhaps THE leading authority on medieval technology and social change): "We will continue to suffer a worsening ecological crisis until we reject the Christian axiom that nature has no purpose save to serve mankind."

Chief Seattle is worshiping the creation and not the Creator.

Lynn White Jr. Is mistaken since God command the we be good stewards of the Earth.

Actually, I know vegetarians who love the taste of chicken. They salivate when they smell it being grilled. They choose to be vegetarians, not because they dislike the taste of meat, but because they are against cruelty.

What God Hath Commanded!

Bene: Lynn White Jr. Is mistaken since God command the we be good stewards of the Earth.

LeRoy: Assuming you are right in your belief as to what God has commanded (an ASSUMPTION I do not share), then we are clearly in deep violation of his commandment, as we have simply NOT been 'good stewards of the Earth'.

He's going to send you to Hell, I guess.

You're an idiot

Neither a chicken nor anything else was "designed" for any such purpose. Keep your superstitious claptrap to yourself.

As for what "true vegetarians" do or believe, who the hell are you to define what a "true vegetarian is," and why should anyone care? Maybe the meat isn't for "true vegetarians" dumbass. Maybe it's for people who don't eat meat solely because they don't like the idea of killing animals to do it.

There's a huge industry in China and Taiwan in producing hyper-realistic meat substitutes -- you can get a vegetarian turkey drumstick that uses textured vegetable proteins of various kinds for the flesh and skin, and compressed nut shells for the bone.

If you're veg for moral reasons, you may still ENJOY meat. There are plenty of things you might enjoy, that you think would be a bad idea.
