Mine wasn't. Mine also didn't sit on Walmart's board for ten years and then claim to have spent her life fighting for working people. My mother wouldn't have tolerated serial philandering from my father, who himself wouldn't have engaged in such behavior. In addition, if she decided to run for office, she wouldn't have to go as far as New York to find a seat she could possibly win, she'd just stay where people knew her, in Chicago. Oh, and my mother wouldn't try to smear somebody with charges that she admitted are baseless just by pretending its some sort of "vetting" process. And finally, my mother wouldn't wouldn't act like a goddamn Republican and attempt to destroy the party just because she couldn't win the nomination.

So, no, Hillary doesn't remind me of my mother. And, unless your mother was Richard Nixon, I doubt she'd remind you of your mother, either.

Everyone is a prick at some time or another, including moi-- yes, yes, it's true.

But that woman made it her life's work. Not to mention the fact that it grates the living shit out of me that some corporate shyster and Walmart boardmember pretends to be some kind of working class hero. That alone means she considers me and the rest of the electorate to be ignorant and easily manipulated. Given all that, her vagina would be just about the least objectionable feature about her, assuming it isn't just another artificial construction.

Opportunism:

Parlaying a good speech at the 2004 convention, a brief gig as Senator, and widespread dismay at one of the worst administrations in history into a run for the Oval Office.

I'd say Obama can claim the title of "lying opportunist" as much as anyone else still in the race.

Running on "hope", "change", and "new ideas" isn't, well, a new idea. It's been done, and usually with disappointing results. We probably have a reasonable idea what kind of presidents Clinton or McCain will be. That might be a reason for voting against them, but it's at least as legitimate a reason for voting for them (the devil you know...)
