i work in a internet cafe for a while and i was earning 60 dollars a week,and i was happy with the work because i only was on the internet all day.

and some people wonder why mexico is corrupt,with a little stealing i made to myself a little raise and i can reach a incredible 100 dollars a week.

why the people have to move on to survive?

the people worth less just for living in different side of the line?

you know when the slavery of the black people,the slave dealers have to catch the people and bringing to america,with the poor mexican people going to usa they pay themselves his transportation, and they are damn happyt o work for less¡¡¡¡

our wages have been declining constantly for 40 years running. The reason is money expansion; but the people don't understand their money so they look for a scapegoat that makes sense to them. The common pigheaded excuse for our money debasement is to think it happens because of illegal immigrants. This is false, it has everything to do with the huge volumes of money that the central bank prints and nothing to do with illegal immigrants. But us fucked up gringos are too stupid to understand this, so we blame our ever diminishing wages on impoverished immigrants; ironically, the immigrants increase demand for the dollar which tends to raise it's value; so we have it exactly backwards, but that doesn't stop us from going into national fits over the border and trying to make life worse for everyone, including ourselves.

Look, we had the same issues with the blacks when they came. The slavers and slave dealers worked for the upper class, the aristocrats, not the american workers.

I don't know why you cannot earn the same money in Mexico as in the USA. Why does Mexico think your worth less? The ones who come to America, they do not work for less, they work for the same we get paid.

The U.S. has better wages for numerous reasons.

The U.S. has spent generations investing in it's infrastructure so that the work expended is more valuable. The Mexican National Oil company could be reaping huge profits instead of facing bankruptcy if they had done a little long term planning and invested in technological and infrastructure upgrades.

We also spend a great deal investing in human capitol. It costs the government more than $100,000 per student to provide k-12 education in most areas of the country. We also subsidies college and graduate education. A more educated populace is a more prosperous populace.

The U.S. inherited a superior business and political culture from the British, which they have improved upon, while Mexico inherited the dysfunctional Hidalgo culture of Spain.

"i was happy with the work because i only was on the internet all day." This is the problem with Mexico and why it poor. No ambition. You want a job where you screw around all day. People need to value hard work and education if they are to be prosperous.

U.S. has some corruption, but we do not accept it and take measures to limit corruption. If you do not value the rule of law you will not have a prosperous country.

People at the lower end of the U.S. society, who do not embrace these values still benefit from proximity to wealth and a generous social welfare system that is also part of our culture.

If we start bringing in lots of people with little education and no attachment to the business and political culture that make the U.S. prosperous then we will start to be more like Mexico and be less prosperous. If Mexico started embracing U.S. culture and values they would be more like the U.S. and be more prosperous.

People are not worth less because they live on the other side of a border, they are less able to create a society where wealth is attainable because of dysfunctional cultural norms.

Well said Pericles, I would add that the influx of illegal aliens willing to work for low wages has lowered wages for a large number of blue collar jobs here. I speak from experience of many people I know personally who have been driven out of their construction, painting or landscaping professions due to wages suppressed by the illegals.

One thing I would point out, not all Mexicans are like the poster here so it is a bit over the top to say the entire culture is bad. However, the corruption point is certainly true, I would note that it is also true of many other countries, Russia leaps to mind. Of course the difference is that illegal Mexican immigrants are a large population having a large impact while Russians are not.
