I used 497 characters of usefullness. Sadly, I doubt that ABC is listening.

Why are you upset? I thought it was a good debate. Neither candidate came across as being any less incompetent than the other. Both seem to me to be totally unqualified for the position they both seek.

McCain was the clear winner, however.

but it's certain they'll never change if nobody says anything to them. Last night was a new low.

We seem to have forgotten what that word means.

Why would Obama supporters try and shut down the right of the free press to ask questions of any presidential candidate that they want?

You really don't want to take control of and dictate to the press what questions they can ask and only what questions you see as proper to ask him, do you?

I find that shocking!

Questions are just questions..it is up to Obama to prove he can answer them and handle these questions in a postive and constructive way..it should be both part of his political skill and ability to be honest.

It's a General Election Debate

Gird your loins. You thought the Clinton Machine was cranky?

May as well get ready now.

I missed it

Read a little bit about it, didn't sound like it was worth the time. Unless something really big happens, this is like a chess game where you're up a rook, but your opponent is in good position and the game come down to trading pieces until that rook means something.

The media is trying to make this look interesting. The DNC is trying to make this look interesting and Obama needs to show everybody he doesn't have a glass jaw - and he doesn't. So I still keep my eye on the Mccain-Obama polls, but that's about it. Wake me up in June when it's over and we start moving on to the main event. In the meanwhile, it will be a mean while. That's why they call it that.

I think the complaint is that the press asks meaningless, gotcha questions rather than substantive policy questions. And they did it to both candidates.

Besides, how much does it matter about what Obama did in his teen years. It didn't matter what Bush did in his teen years and it hasn't mattered what McCain did in his teen years. Can "do you still beat your wife" be far behind?

This was not supposed to be a press conference or an interview.

It was supposed to be a debate. I realize you have no real formal education, and have probably never attended a debate, let alone participated in one. So maybe this will help.

Re: Who's advocating that?

They can ask whatever they damn well please, and I can complain about it if I damn well please. See how that works? Actually, I WOULD like to dictate to the press that they ask questions relevant to the office of POTUS...am I asking too much?

"Does Rev Wright love America as much as you do?"

Please explain to me what that question has to do with anything relevant to the future of this country.

Forty-five minutes of questions about lapel pins and Tuzla and acquaintences before even touching on an issue relevant to the future of America is defensible? That's the kind of hard-hitting, insightful questioning we need in order to judge Barack's and Hillary's qualifications for POTUS?

Give me a fucking break. I suppose it would have been OK to ask Hillary why she can't give her husband a decent blowjob once in a while, too. Hey, all's fair, right?

Why? Because now they KNOW he can't ...

HANDLE THE TOUGH QUESTIONS and it's killing them, Laurie Ann. IF he still gets the Dem. nomination after that debacle of a performance last night in Phila., the Dems are stupider than we have thought. He was awful!

Charlie Gibson was masterful -- he controlled the debate, as it was / is his place to do. First time I have seen a "MSMedia" person actually DO their job, in this area, in months. And he stuck to his guns & did NOT let Obama weasel out, no matter how hard "The Great Orator" tried.

Gawd, Obama was in a shambles last night -- 'there you go again, that's another one of those cheap side-track questions" blah blah -- he didn't have a friggin' CLUE. It was fabulous to watch. Talk about the Emperor's New Clothes; he is, as I have said from Day One, a gutless, substance-less empty suit!

And she was incredibly good! Totally at the top of her form and the "game." Stuck to the issues, well-organized, hugely well-informed, etc. She looked like a REAL President and a REAL Commander in Chief.

I think she could actually take McCain, if only the stupid DEMS. will give her the chance. Good post, btw. :-)

HILLARY in 2008! READY FROM DAY ONE...

Re: No, it wasn't.

I understand your excitement and joy at the thought of these two ripping each other apart for another 3 months, but you know what the word "debate" means, and what they put on last night doesn't even come close to meeting that definition.

NO, it was fabulous! She killed him & for once,
by Lunesta

the stupid MSMedia actually DID ITS JOB. I would imagine
you might be "upset about the debate," however. Thanks for the link; I'll use it to email the PTB at ABC-News & let them know that finally, finally, FINALLY someone on broadcast news got it right. Btw, is your post that of a sore loser, one has to ask?

Your guy looked like a pathetic, weak, vulnerable loser, Lono.

He's an evasive, vulnerable empty suit & finally people will have a chance to realize it. He was horrible last night, there aren't enough words.

Meh... they have to keep interest high to make money, so they're going to look at the ratings and stick to entertainment over substance anyway. I can respond all I want, but its like complaining that a dog won't meow.

I'm surprised the HRC supporters are defending that slop. Since they're so convinced she's head and shoulders better on policy and substance, you'd think they'd want the debate to be legitimate. Makes me go hmmmmm....
