Six Degrees of Fundraising Separation
by mabelle55

I read Noah's review of Ayers' memoir and found it articulate and insightful. But I have to disagree with Noah's characterization of Obama's and Ayers' connections.

Why should Ayers' money and influence be any less suspect than K Street, Wall Street, oil companies or mortgage brokers? Or, for that matter, Norman Hsu.

I don't think it should, and that is part of the point of Gibson's questions. Obama and Ayers have been financially and politically connected in Chicago; and Ayers held fundraisers for Obama.

Ayers isn't so stupid that he doesn't think or expect something in return for his support and political/economic "friendship."

I'm not weighing-in on whether I think Ayers is a complete jerk-off moron (like so many of the 60s radical males were and are). I do think, though, that it gets very sticky when somebody like Obama gets cozy with Ayers and Rezko on financial/fundraising matters.

Finally, the connection with Ayers points up again what I think is a deep flaw in Sen. Obama: lack of judgment.
