Why assume it's about mom?

This whole feminist discussion re: the election bugs me primarily because we're all assuming that women, unlike men, don't evaluate candidates on criteria like policies and voting history...that the choice between Hillary and Obama is the choice between rebellion against your mother or kowtowing to your boyfriend. Come on, I thought feminism meant that we stopped treating the girls differently because they're girls! Where are all the articles about men afraid to openly support Obama out of fear of offending their feminist girlfriend? That's right, there aren't any, because everyone assumes that men are looking at candidates for qualities other than their genitals, or some deep psychological battle with their fathers, or approval by their peers.

'Come on, I thought feminism meant that we stopped treating the girls differently because they're girls!'

where the hell did you get that? feminism is victim mongering with a good measure of revenge tossed in.

well thank you. i am always here for you. i don't know what i am talking about because i never took and wimmins studies courses.

i did get a kick out of those feminists a few years ago when larry summers did his thing about wimmins in science and math. he stated that they may not have the necessary attitudes to excel in those fields and the feminists got a real fast case of the collective 'vapors' to make his point for him.

fun stuff!!!

I just think it's hilarious that Baby Boomers are complaining about a generational rebellion.

Two problems with your post: first, a very large number of girls/women seem to have massive problems with thier mom (you do not see that with men with their fathers) and second, nowhere in the thousands of blogs and posts that I have read, I have come across a Obama supporter with a female name mention any "policy" or "voting patterns" for their effusive support for Obama - 99% of their support comes from virulent hatred for Hillary (enough to raise suspicion about their fight with their mothers) and 1% from Obama's inspiring speeches. It is not surprising though - in the earlier generations, mothers were gentle creatures. The current generation of mothers are ambitious and have raised their children with a lot more discipline, ambition and pushing. There is huge resentment of "mom" in both boys and girls in College today than was the case before. That is not the only reason, but is certainly a contributing factor to anger directed at Hillary, much of which is irrational and the depth of it is certainly without merit.
