$300 biopsy?
by Folgers
Around her the doctors charge $300 for you to read the magazines in their office. I wonder what kind of biopsy she got for $300? Even the co-payment with good insurance is a lot more than $300.
you need better insurance

I had a hysterectomy three years ago, co-pay was $300 dollars. I was in the hospital for 3 days.

We don't have a co-pay for doctors visits.

Hubby has to get his blood tested twice a month for blood clots, no co-pay.

My mammograms-no co-pay.

Hubby's almost two week stay in the hospital for his heart condition, $50 co-pay for the emergency room, because he was admitted through the emergency room, no co-pay for the for the hospital stay.

Well, we don't know how great the LW's insurance is, but sometimes if you are financially disadvantaged the hospital and/or doctor will cut you some slack.

When I was in law school and poor (we were only allowed to work limited hours per the rules of my law school), I broke my foot and ended up in the emergency room. I had x-rays, a cast, treatment from an orthpedic surgeon, etc. The total bill was something like a thousand dollars; but because I was a struggling student the hospital and doctor reduced my payments drastically! I think I only paid a total of $120 (I know it wasn't even close to $200).

The LW seemed like she was working hard, but not financially well off. It's possible that her health care providers reduced her bill considering her financial situation.

Some places have sliding scales based on income. I'm thinking that this place is one of those. Also because they are letting her pay it off $20/mo

I had a lump removed and biopsied for just under $400 a couple of years back, $300 isn't too far off if you consider rounding. Doctor may have been a friend and gave her a break if she mentioned the financial situation she was in.

Sure, she got a good deal, but not an unbelievable one.

I had a skin lesion removed and biopsied (benign) a few years ago. Deductible was about 50 bucks.
