So Obama thinks rural whites are deluded rubes?
by Sgt_ROCK
+5/-2 Reply

Perhaps he should read Snopes.com more often....

Two different magazines, Country Living and EBONY/Jet did surveys on "WHAT DO PEOPLEFEAR MOST?".

The results were interesting, to say the least...

Country Living magazine's top three answers were:

1. Nuclear war/terrorist attack in U.S.

2. Child/spouse dying/terminal illness.

3. Terminal illness/self.

EBONY/Jet magazine's top three answers were:

1. Ghosts.

2. Dogs.

3. Registered mail.

Re: better explanation for that
by wgoconnell

Black people in America don't really need to be afraid of terminal illnesses for God's sake, only diabetes, but then again anyone whose fat needs to worry about that.

Still, on the face of it, the comparison seems quite hilarious.

ghosts? rotfl

Get ready for the attendant violent barrage of downrates now, Sarge. ;-)

I missed what he actually said
by gmat
in San Francisco, but assuming he referred to rural whites (rather than, say, rural Americans) wasn't he talking about downscale rural people who had lost jobs and benefits, and so on?

That's not really Country Living's readership.

That is absolutely hilarious.

Well, I ran a search
by BobW

at Snopes.com and found no references to Eboney Jet magazine nor to Country Living.

Can you provide a link to the page where you claim to have found your, ahem, surveys?

I won't hold my breath.

That's nowhere on snopes.com

I see it on boortz.com with the disclaimer "OK ... I CAN'T VERIFY THIS ONE EITHER. But .. it's fun, so we're going to go with it." I guess he and I have different ideas of fun.

I've passed it along to the actual snopes.com. I think they'll get a kick out of it.

With apologies to Mr. Foxworthy

If you make less than $50000 per year and vote republican, you might be a deluded rube.

If you live in rural anywhere and blame illegal immigrants for your job loss, you might be a deluded rube.

If you think God has any interest in American politics, you might be a deluded rube.

If you think neo-cons care about abortion, you might be a deluded rube.

If you think John McCain, trust-fund husband, is in touch with small town values, you might be a deluded rube.

Speaking of John McCain, if you think any part of his recently unveiled economic plan will benefit anyone with a blue collar job, you might be a deluded rube.

If you've ever voted for someone on the basis of how much fun it'd be to drink with them, you might be a deluded rube.

If you've ever had a heated conversation decrying flag-burning, political correctness, or the "attack on Christmas," you might be a deluded rube.

If you cut and paste your "neo-con talking point email of the day" onto multiple internet forums without checking to see if any of it is the least bit true, you might be a deluded rube.

Wow, racism in a top post

masquerading as a snopes.com quote. The mouthbreathers will love you for this one.
Perfect!

I just write a piece on how conservative idiots believe all sorts of ridiculous things without the slightest sign of skepticism and intelligence, and then pass them around to their friends with lots of exclamation marks!!!!!!

And here you come with a 100% fabricated story.

Perfect.

Yes, I too think wingnuts are largely idiotic rubes. Too bad Obama chickened out and didn't say what everyone already knows. We should sell Alabama and Georgia to Mexico.

It was easy for me to find it.
by LaurieAnnM

I just googled..'Do Blacks fear ghosts?" and the page on Snopes.com came right up.

This post qualifies for "The Best" of the Fray?

So far, the Sarge is holding his own ...
by Lunesta

but the self-absorbed humorless OBAMA-ELITISTS on here are sure to show up soon; oh look, two of them found it. The "registered mail" comment is sure to resonate with many inner city folks & people losing their homes to foreclosure, too -- certainly not just readers of Ebony or Jet. O.T., your Top Post about Hillary's campaign / chances and "it's the math" now has 1,291 replies. I wonder if that is some sort of record for the BOTF?? Best as always, "L."

p.s. In the rural South, country folk Blacks used to call ghosts "hants." It's in all the novels, even some written by noted Black authors. I think it related to the word "haunt" or haunting.

hehehehe

I love the people who demand links, as if this were the NYT's or something but the same people just stare blankly when Obama contradicts each sentence he says with the next one. It's a strategy that bosses use to keep employees working even if they are in the midst of a pile of poop.

But to give the linkster's credit, the traditional media has undermined their credibility by blindly supporting a candidate without doing basic research, I think maybe that is why blogs have become more important as factual places for info than as forums to bounce ideas off of one another and to get opinions.

One example a blog I was in correntewire, wanted links on something that I posted about obama supporters calling non obama supporters crackers. hehe, funnier because this was in response to someone saying that she was getting called "hillbilly", so I wondered if anyone was being called "white trash". So I gave him links to slate.

I had also placed a link to a left wing paper on the Odinga thing, hoping to get opinions on that, and got back a response via email that it was a left wing paper, I was like um it does say it in the NAME of the paper so um I knew that, and he wanted analysis lol I was like, I was more hoping to get opinions so I would know where to start. But that link came from following a trail that originated in CNN.

I did a google on "proof that registered mail exists" lol

and I get predominately "proof that God exists"

following that logic, if we prove registered mail exists can we prove that god exists also?

Here is a link from truthorfiction on the ebony article

you know if all obamaites have this crappy of a sense of humor, I'm going to start eating beans.
