Ask the Pope - Supreme Court and the Death Penalty
by jerseyview
Perfect timing, on his second day in the US the Supreme Court approves the use of lethal injection.

What would the pope say ?

He's against it, obviously. I fail to see your point. (Actually, I'm fairly certain the failure is not on my end).

the point is I would like to hear what he would say ?

I'm pretty sure he would have more to say than he's against it.

I see your right on top of your game

It's not up to the Supreme Court to determine whether lethal injection is a good idea. Their job is only to say whether the Constitution prohibits it. My guess is that the Pope would say that the Justices ought to do their job as honestly and diligently as possible, which may mean ruling that the Constitution does not prohibit lethal injection. It is then a political issue, not a legal one, whether to actually use lethal injections. On that question, the pope probably agrees with Evangelium Vitae, which says that capital punishment is rarely, if ever, justified.
