Damn Those Polls!

At best, the article demonstrates that presidents, in general, experience ups and downs in their approval ratings. And usually the highest numbers come early in their term(s) and the lowest toward the end.

If one factors margins of error to the little chart in the article, W. would be in the company not only of his father, but also of Clinton, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Truman and even good ole FDR.

In other words, the article contains no insight on anything, certainly not on the disastrous reign of the current president. The article is amusing, cute, facile and easy to read.

Since both the Bush presidents set the record for biggest high-low gaps in their popularity and because both Bush presidents faced the same two major issues during their terms (Iraq and the economy) I think the article has some merit.
