I volunteer

to deal with the troll.

Specifically the one who writes in ALL CAPS. (what's it's name again?)

I'm not kidding: I'll read all its posts. Please understand what a great sacrifice I'm offering to make for BOTF. You no longer have to bother with it. If it says anything about you that really needs a response or a defence, I'll alert you or I'll respond myself. You don't need to worry about it anymore. I do this because I love you.

If you'd like me to take over troll management, please respond below.
to clarify:
by Dawn Coyote
It's just the one particular troll that I'm offering to manage. I realize there are other trolls around, but they're only slightly more annoying than houseflies. I'm not interested in them, even though I'm sure they'd really really like it if I was. No. It's just the one.

That Troll Does Not Exist.
by Zeus-Boy

None of them do. Unless you want them to. And why would you want them to?

Fuck 'em.

While you wait for the trolls alfresco.

While you are waiting for the Troll...you might be interested in watching a little bit of current news as on these latest videos!

‘I Won’t Be Smiling’: Obama Gets In Verbal Confrontation With Photo-Seeker '

Obama: ‘I Will Make A Commitment That Al Gore Will Be At The Table’

"Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He's somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I'm already consulting with him in terms of these issues but climate change is real."

You will be busy...and there will be blood
by Woolley
I really commend you for the thought but I think you need to rethink this a bit. CD is the most prolific poster here, he must not be employed anywhere. Plus, after reading just one or two days output, you may start hallucinating or succumbing to silent fits of rage which culminate in heavy drinking sessions. Beware.
The problem is...
by Archaeopteryx
...this troll posts all over several boards, and you'd have to get the people at Faith-Based and Ballot Box (at least) to go along. If you can do that, I'd be willing to give it a try.
I'll limit it to BOTF posts, and just read the MBTU.
by Dawn Coyote
I'm sorta bored at the moment. And I'm enough of a meanie to really do what'll hurt the troll: ignore it.

Please appoint me as your troll-intermediary, and stop responding.

I promise you'll see results.

Let's try the one board first
by Dawn Coyote
because if there's no pay-off here, it'll go elsewhere.

I don't know the core communities on Faith Based and Ballotbox, so they're unlikely to go along with me, but if it works here, I bet they'll be willing to try it there.
Okey doke.
by Archaeopteryx
But I'm not going to be run off from Faith-Based, and that's where the thing does most of its damage. I'm going to link to your post over there and see what kind of a response it gets.
Maybe someone else could take on the role over there

SoreLoser came up with this bit 'o brilliance:

>>I was looking in Options and found something interesting...

It isn't blocking but there is an Option for a Subject filter that will screen unpopular subjects. You can set the rating as '>+5', '>0', and '>-5'. I set my Subject screen to >-5 and found a troll post with a -4. I rated it as 'don't recommend' and it disappeared. (I wish they had a '>#' where you could set the screen to a reasonable level but that's the way it goes...the >0 is useless as it blocks all new posts...a >-1 or -2 would be more useful.)

I don't usually rate posts but, with some cooperation, it would be a way to eliminate this trash from the board for those that don't want to view it for days at a time. There are enough people that are offended by these posts so that we can remove them by using the screening and rating the posts negitively if they deserve it. There aren't enough posters that agree with trollie to keep his posts visable by those that don't want to see them against our will.

Of course, if s'h'it actually tries to make a reasonable post, I will forego the negitive rating but it is a way to get rid of the most objectionable posts.<<

Other posters on the board downrate it so fast, I don't ever see its posts! I had no idea it was still posting.

There's potential for abuse, for sure, but if used wisely...

Ran across this pic of Al Gore on his way to that table Obama promised.

I am one of those regular posters on FB who has joined in the down-rating patrol.

Since these particular top-posts have proven repeatedly to have no value whatsoever and to bring nothing of consequence to the table, I have no problem in immediately down-rating them without wasting useful time in perusing them.

I have set my filter accordingly, and am delighted to find that these posts disappeear almost immediately. In the absence of a useful "ignore" function, this is definitely the way to go. Those who wish to keep the posts in view may do so; those who want them to go away are quickly gratified.

What troll?
by ducadmo

I hope you're not talking about Jack, because Jack is a fine, upstanding human being - at least by Texas standards and it's more trouble than it's worth to get rid of him. A little like toenail fungus.

Or did you mean that other guy? Oh, he's just a house-pet who hasn't learned how not to piss on stuff. Marking, that's what they call it. You don't have to get rid of him just for marking. Try crate training.
