I was very disapointed in The Five Days of Disney. as a woman who has faced the same drudgery 40 hours a week at the same workplace, Disney World is like a much needed breath of fresh air. So what if I am amazed at the technology, at the Disneyism spectacles, laugh at sees mouse ears every where I look. Does it hurt to be a child for a few days even when I am actually 55 years old. So what if my grown children are unfamiliar with MIckey Mouse and friends...does it hurt them to see what cartoons their Mom and Dad grew up with ? It is clean cut All American fun and dreaming...especially one man's dream and allowing us to envision that dream with him. What's the big deal ? It's fun, I find it relaxing...even if I walk until my calves turn red and swollen and I spend a fortune on silly little trinkets. For the 5-7 days I might stay at Disney World I can forget about the hustle and bustle of real life and act like a totally entranced child. Who does that hurt ? Then I can return to the stresses of every day life and feel as though I have been to another world. I have visited the parks with my children, my grandchildren, and it was the final trip I took with my Mom before she passed away. What counted was , we were together, we enjoyed the dream of Mr. Disney...we have memories of a totally different theme park from Six Flags. I will always remember the gleam in my son's eyes and then my grandson's eyes as we looked up at the beautiful castle. I will always remember the gleam in my mom's eyes as she sat by enjoying the wondrous look in all of her children's eyes as we laughed, felt safe, and wandered through technology that was presented to us without us having to waste one brain cell. I will go again and see Snow White walking the streets, gaze at the Tree of Life and not care that it's fake. I will ride the "It's a small world" ride with my youngest grandson and for just a while I can be a kid again.
