Every time you idiots run a story like this,
by tyrannosaura

you make a lot of women furious and they vote for Hillary just out of spite. Why? Well, you know that, or should. The nasty, gleeful schadenfreude that creeps into the discussion every time some pundit intones that "Hillary is as good as dead" is always heavy with misogynistic glee. Take that, little woman. Take that, you presumptious broad. Back to your cookies and your ironing. If you don't know that that's how it sounds, ask any member of, oh, about 52% of the population. It was the likes of Chris Matthews who handed her New Hampshire on a golden platter. You'll do the same with Pennsylvania at this rate. And much as I admire Hillary, I want this nomination battle over, for the same reason every Democrat does; we don't want to prolong the self-inflicted damage. And it probably would be over if the media didn't have a substantial vested interest in covering it like a horserace, instead of covering the issues.

Waaa waaa waa. come on are you serious? do you really think this was written because the media is sexist? really? what exactly is misogynistic about saying a canidate has no chance when they have no chance? its math not sexism. maybe if she can't win its her own fault. Not because its the subersive will of the media. maybe she cant win because she ran a weak campagin at the begininning and didnt realize that just because she was a clinton it didnt mean she was entitled to the presidency. it was hers to lose and she lost it.

"Take that, little woman"? "Take that, you presumptious broad"?

I cannot believe this garbage!

She is being treated like any other politician who was flying high and now appears to be down and out. She's no different than Giuliani or Romney on the Republican side.

Where does this sense that any criticism is automatically mysogyny come from?

Issues?

I think you mentioned one: sexism. Are you going to dance with racial bias glee if Clinton beats Obama? Can you see the smallest, tiniest sliver of a possibility that someone might vote for Obama for some other reason than Clinton is female? You do realize, I hope, that some of the "it's all over for Clinton" opinions are coming from women.

And you do realize what your misogyny theory means in the general election, right? If Clinton is the Democratic cominee, all Republicans will vote for McCain and all Democratic and independent men will vote for McCain. Do you think that's true?

The nasty, gleeful schadenfreude that creeps into the discussion every time some pundit intones that "Hillary is as good as dead" is always heavy with misogynistic glee.

There is, no doubt, a minority of people who take sexist satisfaction offer Senator Clinton's problems. And sometimes their voices are loud, but they shouldn't be taken for the voices of the vast majority of people--including, I think, most pundits--who are looking at candidates, their records, and trying to decide on what's really important.

As for this particular story, as the prior poster said, Clinton's problem is simple math at this point: her chance of getting the nomination is just very, very unlikely with so few delegates left that are up for grabs.. So there's a legitimate discussion as to what extent she should stay in to keep that chance alive, as she has every right to do, and to what extent she should consider the larger context of the contest against McCain in November.

I have to say you are right about this. I am guilty of it myself. I don't really feel objective about Obama anymore.

With nary a gnats pubic hair difference between them, I find myself feeling defensive of her and blaming him.

I don't know if the reason for this article is sexist, but it is damaging. As a Hillary supporter, this type of thing pushes me away from voting for Obama, and may well push me into voting for McCain. Certainly no one cares what I'm doing. However, as I've said before, good luck with that math and delegate count. It is what it is. But, like it or not, in the future, you are going to need people like me, otherwise that pesky math called the Electoral College brought on by the Popular Vote in the General Election will also be what it is, and it will be stacked in favor of McCain.

If you are so stupid, narrowminded, and short sighted as to hand the presidency back to the Republican pigs who have brought ruin on this country ... wow, just wow. McCain will be an awful president and will likely stay on the same disastrous course as charted by Bush et al.

1.) He is George Bush's successor on policy. Continue the Iraq war until it is successfully resolved (40 years from now), deregulate the banking industry, use "market" reforms for health care, ignore illegal immigration, ...
2.) There is serious conversation about having Mike Huckabee run as his running mate. Huckaabee is so radioactively southern that he makes many Utahns consider a democratic vote. Just think about that for a moment.
3.) McCain is in awful health and will not likely survive his first term as president.
4.) McCain has an awful temper and is as likely to piss off our allies as Bush was.

If you could be pushed into voting for McCain because of a tongue in cheek story on an online magazine, think about what that says about you. Good hell, this country might truly be fucked.

The media covers this like a horse race? You mean a horse's ass, don't you.

Hillary has no one to blame but herself. She has run a terrible campaign, and it shows. She got her ass kicked by a first term senator, that most of the country had not even heard of six months ago. Even with the Rev Wright issue plastered all over the media, she managed to still screw up with her repeated misremeberings of her combat tour in Bosnia. The woman is an idiot, and it is past time for her to slink back to New York.

Obama 08. Unless of course, you would prefer the alternative. Good Luck with that.

Way to woo the vote!
by biteoftheweek

Calling someone stupid is oh so healing.

I don't believe Obama can win the general election. And with his supporters viciously attacking Hillary and her supporters, it seems like his divisive campaign is out to destroy the party.

Re: Way to woo the vote!

Sounds like you think that Obama just might be a "undercover Republican." Masquerading as a Democrat, with his mission being to destroy them, thereby handing the election to the Republicans. Perhaps you should put this idea into a book, it could make a good spy novel. Who knows perhaps the voting public will wakeup to all this Democrat Vs Republican crap and elect someone who will tell both parties to go to hell and just be a president for the good of the people of America.....Come to think of it that would make a good fantasy novel!
You have a good imagination
by biteoftheweek

I am talking about the arrogance of attacking those who support the other candidate with such viciousness.

Do you really think that is good for the party?

Re: You have a good imagination

To borrow a phrase from Clarke Gable, "Frankly my dear I don't give a damm." That is I don't give a damm what is good for the party be it Republican or Democrat. I only care about what is good for our country on the whole. With that thought I don't play politics and will vote for the person, man or woman, black or white, that I believe will do the best job for this country. The United States of America is where my allegiance is not with any political party.

I see

then I am assuming that you think a McCain win is good for the country
