Boycott the Olympics?
by gialtouridis

Every four years we have to read some bozo's deranged opinion about how it is in our best interests to avoid the Olympics. Four years ago, it was the alleged lack of security in Athens. We all know how true that turned out to be. This time, it's China's human rights record. So, let me get this straight. You want to punish China, or at least send China a message, by boycotting the Olympics. And how will you do that? By alerting the entire world using your "Made in China" keybord, which is connected to your "Made in China" computer, as you compose your column viewing it on your 'Made in China" monitor. Or, you are an on-the-go type and you just use your "Made in China" laptop. I will not comment on your cell phone, your printer, etc.

Instead of insulting our intelligence, why don't you just tell us your real motives for opposing the sacred Games?

If you support a murderous communist Chinese government, which I think you do then I understand why you don't care about what those murdering bastards are up to.

Just like almost all of the other Chinese supporters here tonight i see this is the only post you have ever made here. Why don't you and your comrades come clean.

This has nothing to do with communism. And for your information, I am more right wing than anyone you know. If you truly understand the significance of the Games, you would not tarnish their image with politics, wars or personal agendas. The Games are not a political tool. If you want to send China a message, shut off your Chinese computer right now. Start with that.

How much more murderous than us slaughtering 1 million Iraqis, mostly innocent civilians? Maybe you like that we have made 4.5 million Iraqis homeless either as refugees in Jordan and Syria or in thier own country?

Who is China occupying? Don't lie and answer TIbet, because Tibet was always a part of China, no other government in the whole world has ever recognized any government of Tibet. Chinese princesses used to marry Tibetan kings, and there are Chineese relics all over Tibet!

Murderous? Please. You talk NONSENSE.

As for communist, in America, anyone can be a communist, so why should we care who is communist or not there.

As to Tibet, so far, the rioters have murdered a lot of people, not the Chinese government! I SAW the footage on CCTV.

Actually in the mid 1900's the Chinese government slaughtered many people in Tibet to let the people know who the "boss" is. They were even trying to kill the Dali Lama luckily he got away and now lives in India. Other than that I completely agree with you. America has got to be the most selfish hypocritical country in the world. We killed and raped millions and millions of people. Not just people in Iraq, but Vietnam, Korea, and a few more places unknown to the public for security reasons. Yet we look at other countries with disgust and hate when they kill innocence. Yes, that is wrong but we have no right to hate them unless we understand that they do what we do. The Olympics is when countries can get together and forget all past differences and say "for now you are a worthy opponent"

In fact, I would like to see at least ONE good reason to boykott the Olympics. The fact that it has been done and can be done doesn't mean a thing.

Give me ONE good reason based on what you (the writer of the article) actually KNOW and not just believe because you like the Dalai Lama or because you believe in what the press says.

Is there anything you dug out working like a private eye and historian at the same time? I guess not, because if you knew how Tibet was before the "occupation" and who is behind that Lama, you would boycott him, not the Olympics.

Do you know what kind of freedom these skunks... sorry, monks really want? They want the right to mistreat the Tibetans like <manure> just as before. Is that the right you believe they should have?

First get informed, then cry out for a boycott... against the people who deserve it!

HA HA HA

Why would i waste my time with a communist China propaganda site?

How many websites are you allowed to even look at. China censors the entire web so its people cannot see the truth. In the USA there are no websites that an American citizen cannot see except for privately owned ones, a concept you have never experienced. I feel very sorry for you to never have known freedom.

Wake up and smell the oppression.

I do not want to see anyone killed. The hans or the Tibetans. But it seems the only way the Tibetans are allowed to be left alone by the Chinese govenrments murdering thugs is if they agree to be treated like animals.

Communist China has a long record of brutally murdering all who dare speak against them. I wouldn't be surprised to see them attack people in this country.

Re: Boycott the Olympics?

Where did you get this information that Tibetans were treated like animals? if you've been to Tibet you would never believe what you just said.

I guess the media told you this story, and then you believe the whole thing w/ out using your brain.

A vivid example was CNN interviewing Richard Gere. They were talking about 'china treating tibetan so badly', at the same time, CNN broadcasting shocking images that tibetans were attacked and abused by police. Regrettably CNN didn't tell you that those images were not taken in Tibet, and those police are not Chinese police, not even close. They were in India. Many of those so called 'crackdown' evidence were actually pictures taken in India or Nepal while local police handling exile Tibetan’s 'peacefully protesting'. Ironically, the images of Indian/Nepal police have been widely used in many media to show how cruel the china police is. But they rarely let you know that the real role players were actually Indian or Nepal police. Funny, hugh?

how come talking about human right crisis in China, yet using Indian/Nepal police as footage? As if they thought that India is part of China.

They simply don’t have any such kind of images from China, so they used Indian police’s behavior to misguide audiences. Wouldn’t believe that CNN made such an obvious mistake?

Well, if you couldn’t tell the obvious difference by appearance between Indian and Chinese, check out yahoo news. When covering same event, at least y! Photos gave some description on where it happened. Compared them w/ TV images, then use your brain to guess who has been brain washed?

You can say the same murdering thing to US too – Native American Indian hundreds years ago, or Vietnam decades ago, or Iraq right now, but that's not relevant to this case.

So far, except those pictures taken on India or Nepal police, I couldn't find a single picture that shows the Chinese police attacking Tibetan, although I don't believe there was none. If rioters burning your house or knifing you on the street, I would be very surprised to see US police NOT attacking them.

As for Olympic, for whatever reasons, those who want to punish china government by using boycotting Olympics, they are actually humiliating and irritating 1.3 billion people on this planet who truly believe Olympic can turn on the lights and are ardently anticipating a great game holding in their homeland.

Sure....It's easy for you to say Turn off your "Made in China" Computer. But do you realize if everyone stopped using Chinese products, China's economy will be scarred forever? Hundreds of Millions of Chinese work in the factories in making the "Made in China" Monitors you’re looking at, "Made in China" Chairs you’re sitting on, or the "Made in China" Keyboards you're probably using right now to place another insulting message to the Chinese. If everyone stopped buying these products, it'll send hundreds of millions of Chinese into poverty. Americans are suffering right now from the low-quality goods that America buy from China, but can we forget the bogus goods America exported in the 1900's, where America was going through the Industrial Revolution? We, as fellow people who made that mistake must give China a chance to go through their Industrial Revolution. As you can see, China is becoming much more successful, and this is chance for them to redeem themselves. We can’t be the ones to insult them if we've done it before, and we must see China's a developing country. Maybe in a centaury, when China is a well developed country like us, it'll be the time to protest. But right now, it's wrong and shouldn't be done.
