Where are YOU at?Bashing all including Reagan conservatives?
by edrake
There was an article that I read that had an ineresting take on the whole thing. "the liar the rasict and the warmonger" <link> The author bashes Reagan conservatives and all three canidates. It pretty much explains where im at on the elections. I dont know who to vote for anymore. Do we want the same old breed of politicians or do we want to reign in our employees? They are supposed to work for us and we let them get away with murder. If I was interviewing people for a position and one of them lied, one of them was rasict and another wanted to attack anyone who disagreed with him, I would hire none of them. I would do the job myself and wait for an eligable canidate for the position. Wish we could do that here.

The article, unfortunately, is a lot of B.S. First of all, anyone that goes to war or actually plans on winning one is not a "warmonger." I know that the peaceniks love to throw that word around to describe anyone that is OK with the use of force once in a while, but the word is overused and misrepresented. The term implies someone who is actively seeking war. Unfortunately, a war came to us a few years back.

Now, this is complete nonsense:

The economy is failing (or we have the re-distribution of wealth), the globe is warming and lakes are drying up, and the world is set up for a Third World War.

First of all, show me one human being that can control the weather? Good luck finding one. The lakes aren't drying up. We're not going to bake to death. Set aside the fact that this is another pathetic attempt at blaming every problem in the world on President Bush. Please, for the love of God, look at the water temperature profiles and upper air patterns over the past couple of years. Can't we at least acknowledge the possibility that a reversal may be a lot closer than you think and that Mother Nature is in control of it?

Second, if the world is set up for WWIII, can we maybe try looking at the Islamo-fascist terrorists that like to kill innocent people instead of blaming America first? I know it's en vogue to blame America for the world's problems, but at some point, "self-evaluation" becomes "self-loathing" which is not just counterproductive, but destructive.

I'm with this guy on Obama and his pastor breeding racial animosity. He hit that one on the head. Anyone who has seen Hillary Clinton in action in the last 20 years knows she's capable of doing or saying anything to get/keep power. No mystery there. And yes, conservatives have every reason not to trust McCain, especially to uphold his promise to extend the tax cuts (yes, the ones he voted against as a senator). He's actually got the idea on some of this, even with the somewhat conspicuous hint of a left-wing spin.

Now, where do we go from here? Well, the first step is primary elections. We blew it there, and I mean both Democrats and Republicans. Democrats like to find the most liberal people on the planet and run them as if they're somehow in the center. Republicans seem to fear "originalist" thought. How dare we actually believe in more limited government and then vote for it. So, we have what we have.

The next step is obviously November's general election. On one side, you have a guy that is a pretty good guy,is saying the right things about retaining our individual freedoms etc, but has a rather inconsistent record of voting for it. On the other side, you'll have someone who will jack up taxes at the first opportunity, who will promote a government takeover of the healthcare system and turn the US into Canada, who will kill the economy with gasoline taxes (because $3.50 a gallon just isn't enough to pay) and will push for global taxation in some way, shape or form. So, America, take your pick.

Don't forget you also have local and state elections, and future elections. I said this back when former wide-receiver Lynn Swann ran as the Republican opponent to PA Governor, Ed "Fast Eddie" Rendell. He had absolutely no experience, but Fast Eddie is running the state into the ground, and the Pirate Parrot or Philly Fanatic would have been a step up from what we have. So, I said we should vote him out. Then whenever we see that Swann is useless, vote him out. When his replacement was useless, vote him out. Somewhere down the line, they'll get the hint that if they want to stay in office, they'd better start doing their jobs. Well, no one followed my advice.

Here's how I think America as a whole should go about this, using that line of thinking. Right now, I think it would be a disaster to have Clinton or Obama in the White House. While I'm no screaming fan of McCain, I see him as the best (or the least destructive) candidate. If he sucks in 4 years, obliterate him in the primary and run someone that's true to their beliefs. Don't wait for the general election. May the best man win in 2012. When that president is useless and fails to live up to their promises, destroy them in the 2016 primary and do it all over again. In the meantime, get rid of these incompetent Congressmen and their 12% approval rating ( or whatever it is this week). People need to wake up and stop voting a party line or however their union boss tells them to vote. Get involved, get informed, and make a good, educated choice.

Palliative

McCain has been compared to Cthulu, but I think he will have to pay royalties on that if he wants to take it on the road so no more worries there.

Reagan spoke at a rally when he was campaigning at Bob Jones University, although not quite as crazy as that Hitler grandizing pastor Wright of NObama's....religious enough that I can say with all certainty that Reagan IS NOT an atheist. Despite aspersion otherwise.

The Obama attacks start on the Reps already, and this I have to admit is probably a "typical white" thing, because I really don't get the "your mamma" and all the fights that ensue if that phrase is spoken amongst black youth. Although "your granma" must be suitable or maybe suitable as long as it is a white granma.

So I honestly don't get these attacks on McCain and Reagan. Especially as Obama saluted Reagan in one of his speeches?

At this point, I"m ready to retire and just let the chips fall where they may and vote.
