it is a very sad situation - most children who do not have a SOLID STABLE FUNCTIONAL nuclear family have very little chance for success in life. i assume the mothers of these children were not raised in the kind of home that had good values or they wouldnt be so willing to have sex before marriage.... why repeat the cylce???

Why so angry, married without children? THe article wasn't an attack (as has been perceived by many) on single parenthood, it was a treatise pointing out the societal problems presented by the rise in single-parent households. Even the author stated that a stable one-parent household is a better option for a child than a violent two-parent. Nuclear families may be an optimal situation in which to raise children, but it's no guarantee that the child will turn out to be a contributing member of society, and no less a man than Barack Obama was raised by a single mother, so why be so quick to be judgmental and lay blame?

I come from a large family. When I was a kid, a doctor approached my father, and chastised him for having so many children. I remember my father, who didn't take criticism well, turning to the doctor, pointing to us, and asking, "Which one of them do you want me to kill?" He was making a point - he could afford to raise us all, and we all went on to degrees of success. Why direct so much anger for your personal agenda against a situation you may not be familar with?

Please don't assume how people were raised first of all, you know what they say about people who assume and I think you did the saying justice. So it is a rapped girls fault for having a child out of wedlock? Hmmm... As a taxpayer your paying for that child. Yeah but only cuz the ladies keep falsely stating that it is the men who are abandoning their families. And it ain't true.

just because someone files a paper does not mean that they are the cause for the divorce. maybe for the actual legal paperwork beginning, but i think you're smart enough to think beyond that.

i don't know that your numbers are true, but i'll take it at face value because i don't see the relevance in the first place- oh. unless you are one of those who just thinks people should stay married just because. it doesn't matter if either party is unfaithful, an addict, or just plain a jerk.

IF this is how you feel, then i suppose i have nothing to discuss with you. IF it is not, then i wish you'd explain why you feel the need to blame women so much. i'm not assigning blame to situations of people who i don't know to exist, much less to know the specifics of their situations. I don't feel the need to simplify my thought to the level that all women are bitches and all men are assholes.

personally, i think people in general are both, more often than not. and in a relationship with two people, i think it's much more likely that they both contributed to the breaking up of the relatioship- even if they shouldn't have gotten together in the first place.
