just because you have sex with someone and you get knocked up is not a reason to marry that person!! most people look at sex as a casual thing but marriage is not casual!! they are way more boyfriend/girlfriends living together with a child or two than there are married people (or so it seems)! now dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with marriage as long as its for the two of you!! nobody else can make it work but the two of you. adding a baby to the mix adds a lot of work, stress, sleep-less nights, fun and rewarding moments!! personally i think if two people can have a kid and make it the first couple years without killing eachother then heck yeah go get hitched! also i feel a kid needs their father. even if the two adults can stand eachother put a smile on a deal with it because it means more to that child then anything else! then on the other hand if you two hate eachother, dont stay married because you think its whats best for the children! cause its really not! they are better of seeing mom and dad with someone who makes them happy then always seeing mom and dad fighting with eachother!! i am an unwed mother, but i am still with the father! we are doing great!! we are goin on six years together! its easier to leave them then it is to divorce them!!

The article did not even SUGGEST that you get married simply because you got "knocked up." (A very degrading term.) However, just as marriage is not casual, neither is sex or having children.

If you read the article correctly, it simply puts forth the idea that being able to commit to an adult and work on that relationship is important to do before being committed to a child who has no choice in the matter or their situation. Must we be so selfish?
