Phone Books Rock
by JeanAlexander

I love my phone books and do not like using the web, especially for business listings. When I use the Yellow Pages, I get an overall picture of my local community, and can easily identify municipal resources. Businesses that commit revenue to Yellow Page advertising are demonstrating a relationship they have or would like to have with their local clients. It is a beginning tool for checking out the quality of a business or tradesman, as often the ads give you additional information such as if they are family owned, how long they have been in business, and their specialty.

People are doing themselves a disservice if they fail to use this quick and convenient reference tool.

Yeah, because trusting what people write is a good idea -_-, do you work for a phone book company?

Esh, my last post was to vague for my tastes. What I meant was that looking for a "good" or trustworthy" business in a phone book doesn't seem very effective. If I need to find one, I'm generally getting something important done (I.E. Porch screen) and looking at names or adds in a phone book isn't going to help much, where as trusting a place of food is based on what their store looks like O_o.

Adds can be touched up and such so that you could find the best looking add in the book and it could be a dingy little rodent ridden store.

Yeah, but if you're using the internet to find a business, you can have the same problems. Ifyou bring the phone book with you, and you get to the store, and you don't like how it looks or its prices or it doesn't have what you want, all you have to do is open the book back up and pick a new ad. No going home or looking for wi-fi to get back on the internet to find a new option.

Even though I love the internet for shopping and looking up info, I agree with the Phone Book Lady about how the book of Yellow Pages are actually better for looking up businesses. I found the Yellow Pages ONLINE to be less than accurate, and not up to date. When we receive our big book of the actual Yellow Pages, we know it was recently updated in the past year. I like to see the ads that businesses put out. It does give you alot of information you wouldn't normally get. So I tend to grab my actual book of Yellow Pages when I need a business number. The internet Yellow Pages leave alot to be desired.
