FL, MI re-vote OR If only the scarecrow had a brain.
by spiker

It is my understanding that the only reason there is no re-vote in Michigan and Florida is the lack of public funding.

If Hillary had a brain to be president, she'd get the DNC to set up two accounts and have donations gathered nationally to fund a re-vote. I bet if all of Hillary's supporters PayPal'ed a dollar they'd get the $45 million required, with no campaign finance issues at all, within 3 days.

Why are public funds used to pay for party primaries in the first place?

Your understanding is wrong, spiker. If only you had a brain to post a comment.

Supporters of Hillary Clinton said today they have found donors willing to put up $12 million for a new Democratic primary in Michigan, and the four Democratic leaders who are pushing for the re-vote plan said they still hope the Michigan Legislature will take up their proposal.

As an Obama supporter I support a revote. Nothing to get Superdelegates to vote for Clinton than a sense that she should have gotten those extra delegations. Maybe Obama could pick up one or both states now?

The only problem is that there is a major issue in terms of getting people to vote again.

That being said, the *best* solution would be for the Democratic Party to give both states a slap on the wrist and strip them of only a couple of delegates. The political parties have begun to see themselves as the sole beneficiaries of primary systems (I live in Washington State-- we just finished a 4-year legal battle against the parties for the right to hold state elections the way we, the people, want).

I'm totally confident my brain is better than Hillary's and yours combined. :0)

If Obama fights a re-vote he'll lose twice.

That's not the only reason. Obama won't agree to a re-vote unless independents and republicans are allowed to cast ballots in the democratic race. As far as I know, Hillary won't agree to that stipulation.

In a DEMOCRATIC PARTY re-vote the only right thing is for only already registered Democrats to vote. An unfair and losing proposing for Obama. But if he can't win within the party, then should he win at all?

Oh spiker...you so crazy. The point of allowing independents and republicans to vote in the democratic primary is that it increases the size of the democratic party. That's typically taken to be a good thing come the general election.

Although, no one knows exactly how much influence the Libaugh effect is having. Letting republicans vote could backfire on Obama.

What you said is only true when you aren't talking about a re-vote. You must realize that this is fundamentally a Constitutional Republic and not a democracy and so in a re-vote only registered party members count because of the "Limbaugh Effect"

At this point a re-vote is a private election.

I guess there are no rules, just guidelines

in the democratic parties elections. Listen, these two states and the parties candidates knew full well what the consequences were when they move their primaries up in the calendar. Now that there's uncertainty and the potential to expose their rules for looking stupid, they want to change them??

Once again, SYMBOLISM OVER SUBSTANCE!

Once again politically clueless Stevie. :0)

You're right in that the Dem's screwed this up. And the Republicans got this right when they halved the delegates as punishment for early voting. It is what they Dem's should have done before the vote was actually taken. This is proof Howard Dean would have been as good a president as George Bush.

That said, when your party members demand to be heard (to the point that they start asking for their money back) if you don't you do the right thing you risk losing the general election because of disaffected political constituents.

Your analysis is poor.

They chose poorly.

I thought the Florida Republican legislature and Governor pushed through and signed the bill into law that caused the Democratic primary to be illegally early? <link>Them, I have some mercy on. I don't know what Michigan was thinking. Well, I do, actually. They were thinking, "I bet we can get away with it."

Voters in Michigan and Florida have a right to their vote, no matter who they vote for. But Hillary is not fighting for Democracy in Michigan. She's fighting for Hillary. Her plan is a re-vote, financed by 10 filthy rich people - all of whom are Hillary supporters. Many of them have been Clinton supporters for years and are major supporters. These are some of the people who are more than happy to help Hillary out: Jon Corziine, Peter Angeleos, owner of the Baltimore Orioles, Fred Eychaner, Haim Saban, an Israeli-American who is one of the richest and most powerful men in the country, and Bernard Scwartz, who has given thousands of dollars to the Clintons over the years. These are not "one man-one-vote people." These are billionaires who think they can buy Hillary Michigan. She just doesn't mention then in a stump speech - she talks about how deeply she cares. Google these people. They are not the salt of the earth. They are not even the Democractic machine. They are the men the Democratic machine answers to.

The Democratic leadership has screwed things up badly. The "elder statesmen" have stood by and watched it happen. But you know what? It didn't have to be this way. Instead, it's just become another slime tactic from the Clinton campaign - to hide behind her filthy rich donors, pretend she cares about the average guy, and blame it all on Obama.

At the time the Democrats were complicit. They too wanted to vote early. If they had been strict rules followers they could have raised a stink and they didn't that I heard of.

First, where are the links.

Second, do you practice reasoning much? Do you expect the Billionaires Boys Club members to actually jigger the voting machines and/or ballots when recast? If you do, then you are CRAY-ZEEEE girl.
